I watch this guy a lot, but this is one of the cooler things he's come out with;

Tiny particles from ancient supernovae causing blue screen of death Happy

Human electronics are designed for performance, not security or stability. This is why such issues occur to begin with.

The video outlines how companies like NASA have circumvented the problem though

A pebble at the source of the Nile and all the world is changed.
Precision beats power, and timing beats speed.

It is not just unshielded electronics who is at stake. My design would include certain standards of shielding against electromagnetical radation. If people as me would make up nation such as Russia for example, a simple blast from the sun would be a minor issue for my nation since all my electronics would be heavily shielded from all known interference while rest of the world would fall into anarchy and collapse. Same stands for example and with security issues. Our electronics do not limit size of the memory buffer it gives to a program and thus, without computer checking its own memory boundary, most security issues and breaches are caused this way. I would sacrifice performance heavily by first focusing on electronics which would be capable of surviving under hypothetical scenarios. Of course, high performance electronics are essential in many areas, but it is often a huge overkill in countless electronical devices and minor systems who does not perform any real processing challenges.
