Using magick to give someone the extra push they need to start practicing witchcraft.

So, a close family member of mine I feel is right on the precipice of having enough knowledge and interest in witchcraft to actually do something. We've talked about it, he knows about my practice and has asked me some questions that have led me to believe that he's definitely thought about performing rituals. He's also told me about some experiences he's had with seeing spirits. Problem is, he's lazy, not really a big reader, and distracted by other things. So he hasn't taken the time to really research what needs to be researched and actually DO something with regard to magick. I did a tarot reading a few months back regarding whether or not I should do anything to push him along this path and it was a very affirmative answer. I'm just not sure how to go about this. I don't want to be too aggressive, especially when I'm successful and he could figure out what I did. Any suggestions?

Gift him with a book. The exact book, I cannot say, but I always do recommend such books as A Cornish Book of Ways (Gemma Gary), The Witching Way of Hollow Hill (Robin Artisson), or Mastering Witchcraft (Paul Huson). Or perhaps something more Wiccan?

You know him best.

have him start with small things. like consecrating magical tools, practicing tarot, performing lbrp.

this should get him in the mode to not be lazy

I mean what exactly are you planning that you're so concerned?
You have to let people do things in their own time. It's nice you want to help, but just let dude figure it out on his own
If he's too add, not a reader, than the occult isn't really going to be for him. He ll be a dabbler possibly for life.
I mean again that you're concerned that he finds out that you did work in his name concerns me. Why don't you simply road open the dudes path. That's what anyone should do given the situation and he can choose to walk it or not.

And as ferg says give him a book. Well I agree. That's a bit of road opening on its own in a tangible way.

As fergnosis suggested you can get them a book or something, but ultimately you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink. And being a witch is not an easy thing so if they arent willing to put in the work to learn and practice it is on them

What exactly does this mean? "Road open the dude's path?" I have not heard of this. is that sort of like making it easier for the person to be influenced by magic or be more likely to see/experience things that will lead him down a certain path? Should I do one for myself?
