What is your "American dream?"

Clearly, what America is, what America offers, what the American Dream is -- these things are up for debate. Now I ask for you to write your own personal vision and/or experience of America, what it offers, and/or the American dream.
Here's some key questions I'm looking for
1. What is your personal experience with America? How has it influenced your view on it?
2. What did America offer to you and what does it offer to everyone else?
3. What is your "American dream"?
4. What does America mean to you?

You can be as controversial as you want, in fact I encourage it, just be honest. I'm looking for well thought out opinions and experiences to but into a narrative.

I'm Canadian, but the whole white picket fence thing does not sound so bad. Maybe I could be the modern equivalent of the village Witch

By night he's the wild winds rider,
The Horn'd One, the Lord of the Shades.
By day he's the King of the Woodland,
The dweller in green forest glades.

She is youthful or old as she pleases,
She sails the torn clouds in her barque,
The bright silver lady of midnight,
The crone who weaves spells in the dark.
