I highly recommend it. I use a deep throat singing technique similar to the Tibetan monk chants Before the forum got turned upside down I had some recordings to use as an example. I'll try and track them down and repost.
It is not like you have to but that is how mantras work. Mantras are sacred sounds which help in raising the vibration of your body and your surroundings. When you are fully present and chant mantra your body vibrates but you don't have to feel tingling sensations that usually happens when you chant them loud for specific sounds.
