I've been stocking up for a long while. I have, no joke, at least a year and a half of rice, spices, and other non-perishables.

I have other things in the works, but if it were to all go belly up tomorrow, I know I could still eat.

What matters more to me is the ability to quickly form a community that can self-sustain, self-defend, and later project force. One of the reasons for food shortages are stock pilers. I met a guy who had 500kg of corn flour, a barrel of vegetable oil and so many noodles and rice in his garage alone that you couldn't enter it. To be honest he had turned the whole house to a warehouse, even the trunc of the car was full with stuff.
Typically he had never cooked in his whole life and he was fat.

Vast amounts of food used come from the plains of Ukraine and following the lockdowns of the mild Covid19 (and Covid20 and Covid21) global supply chains are greatly disturbed.

There are some that wish for a sharp decline in segments of the human population so I expect that there will be some time before recovery in food supplies

Meanwhile the current Maunder Minimum threatens another mini iceage with famine in northern lands

Austria just proclaimed to produce the amount of food that the Ukraine did and fully substitute them. Miraculously hundreds of tons of food from the Ukraine have arrived in Europe in the meantime.

Well, here are my best ideas:
1. Plant craploads of trees, build vertical housing, and no, we dont need another strip mall. Better yet create vertical strip malls
2. Plant vegetable, fruit, herb, and flower seeds everywhere
3. Create a vast spaceship that can store the equivalent of a C-130 cargo space beds for dry ice cooling, and a sealed tank and vacuum system. Uranus and Nwptune, at least in moons, and possibly Jupiter, have atmospheric conditions close to earth, even in ice chemical composition and water composition. Forage that and bring it on down to the Arctic Circle, and immediately throw ice into the water. Sure, we might encounter a minor tsunami in all four directions and a huge fog over the ocean, but quickest route to make the water cold again.
4. Get control of vast warehouses for at least two yers, and gardening and growing equipment. Grow food in the warehouses s if you were growing weed. For example, in Michigan only one license is require, to grow Raw Food. Drop harvests off at schools and churches since they have licensed kitchens.

I do appreciate everyones input and replies. I have learned more, I realize Im not the most highly educated, and frequently incorrect on what I think are facts. Nope, sadly, no. For example, yes, my friend was correct, the earth is not the smallest planet.

I think in addition to preparing for emergencies (prepping, surrealism), that people should consider the employment structure and capabilities within the administrative infrastructure so to speak.
1. Enforce that all citizens be traced to an address, and that they come in person to a testing center to be tested for intelligence, personality and jib skills, as well as career assessment.
2. Freeze all prices.
3. Make the Federal Minimum Wage the highest Living County Wage.
4. Employ everyone into a career path, using the Federal GS paygrade system and OPM job classifications.
5. Unfreeze all prices.

This should mean 75% employment, and a more livable system for all concerned without huge cuts to labor prices. Some hikes sure, but you'll write those off on taxes anyway. It may increase the happiness factor. Not socialism, just a restructuring of all things.

Prepare your body and mind. Learn skills. I learned lots of survival stuff. Learn your environment. I don't prep myself(food wise) but I've got enough tools to rebuild of needed. Food goes bad, a well taken care tool does not.

this requires adherence to natural laws, those that promote life and abundance, with reasoned conscious action to protect individual integrity

if a man hurts a child he should be choked out immediately

any man that consciously harms the community should be immediately killed

further, there are three basic cautions:

do not move earth
do not cut things
do not burn things

these actions must only be taken when it benefits the whole community, which includes the animals, plants, soil and water

Ive had a few ideas.
Tough Mudder registration, participations, and completion.
Black Belt completion in a carefully chosen martial art or MMA.
Take a Military Science course or two at the local university.
(Im Epilieptic, so even though I tried signing up for the Armed Forces, it was a no go for me.)
Take a Law Enforcement Training Program, practice marksmanship.
Take up hunting deer and small game, including birds, have a bird dog.
Explore my area well, at different times of day and night, know danger spots and alternate routes.

Establish a warehouse, put a locker room and bathroom in for safety and sanitation purposes.
Establish vertical farming for fruits and vegetables seeding daily, and harvesting weekly.
Have trucks ready to deliver pallets of food to churches and hospitals.
Using the raw food growing license and a trust fund, establish it as a business and hire.

I am. Health Sciences and then Law Enforcement programs. I may be 50some, but I could do the police academy. PE is PE, so Id suck there, marksmanship can use serious honing, but Id really like to try the shooting range with a 12-guage. That way when I finally get a hunting license and a squad to go with, I will be able to perhaps hit a deer or bird. With Health Sciences, Im basically a low level nurse, below a caregiver actually, but possibly EMT. This provides several areas, security is one Im concentrating on as its always needed and you can be a senior citizen security guard.
I am also still into survivalism and have as big a Cabelas wishlist (including crossbows, revolvers and shotguns) rivaling Amazon. May get the Firefox series and try to live them starting with Faith and the Land. Buy acres now, and then precious metals. Then commodities. Build m warehouse to grow food in with the Michigan raw food license, and grow vertically, seeding daily and harvesting weekly. Drop food off on pallets to schools and churches. They have kitchen licenses.
I might also find that working through Zelator will give me the kick in the pants to work my butt off spiritually, not just doing divination and other cool stuff.
