[Archive] [The God-King] The Elemental Kings

A thread that was copied from the original Wizard Forums.
When one starts out on their magical career one of first things they learn about is the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water. However, one rarely hears about the spirits that actually govern those realms and that those spirits can be evoked to visible and physical appearance to learn from and perform tasks for us. The elementals are widely known among magicians to be "starter" spirits for new magicians to evoke. They always come when called and are nine times out of ten ready and willing to assist the magician in his endeavors. Also, the Elemental Kings and their ilk are neutral. They take no sides of good or evil (though I can say in almost every experience I have heard of or personally experienced it's usually for the good). They are very wise in their categories and will usually weigh the pros and cons of the task you give them and decide from there.

Some say that the Elementals are lesser angels (as the elements are called during the casting of the circle in most rituals as the Watchtowers to protect the circle and the Watchtower spirits are said to be angels). Also because many magicians say that when they evoke certain angels, the Elemental Kings are usually hanging out in the background, as if they are body guarding the angel. I can neither confirm or deny this. In my experience they are their own class of spirit but that is a discussion for perhaps another thread. With this thread, however, I hope to introduce the Kings of each element, their abilities and those spirits they govern.

Note: Spirits usually do not have a gender though do appear as either male or female. In this case, just as with most other hierarchies of spirits, even though a spirit may appear to be female or even have feminine energy they always have male titles. So a female Elemental ruler is called a "King" rather than "Queen".

The Elemental Kings

Listed below are the Kings and their respective elemental realms and their abilities as well as the spirit types they govern.

Element of Earth

The Element of Earth is ruled by King Ghob (spelling varies). Ghob's body appears to have an underlying stone quality, though he appears human in quality not as a creature of stone and his skin is olive-brown toned. His large frame is carried by bulk, firm muscles. The creases and crevasses of his body are all lined with dark soil. His hair and beard seem to be made of minerals soil and vegetation. His brown eyes are set deep into his stern, scowling face. His features move slowly as he moves and expresses himself and he speaks in a metered deep voice, often drawing out the vowels of his words or pausing between thoughts. We have encountered Ghob both in royal armour and a traveling tunic. His armour is made out of dirt-covered metal, and adorned with stones and minerals. From his shoulders hang a rich-looking, deep green cape. Around his neck he wears a large black stone necklace encircled with metal, which has a deep hypnotic quality and on his hands are large and heavy rings. His crown is set with jewels that obscure the bronze metal beneath them. When seen in a tunic, it is simple green with a golden hem, cinched at the waist with a green and gold twisted cord. In both vestments, wears boots that appear to be for hunting, The thongs of his right boot secure a knife there. When encountering him on the astral he may be seen sitting on a large throne of carved stone, again covered in gems and various stones. When Ghob sits upon his throne his body seems to become one with it. He has a feeling of great potential energy, much like the energy stored within objects about to fall, though the feeling of it is far more intense.

His abilities govern things such as the Coins & Discs suites of Tarot and concerns itself with fecundity, finances, stability, strength, vitality, and other such things. The spirits of the Earth Element that Ghob rules over are called Gnomes. The following is one of Ghob's seals which can be used to evoke him. However, this particular seal is one that holds much power. When performing an evocation with this seal the atmosphere of your temple may become heavy and thick, a sure sign that Ghob is indeed present.

The Element of Air

The Air Element is governed by King Paralda. Paralda has appeared both as a quick and youthful man and as a a wise and elderly scholar. His eyes are blue flecked with yellow. As a young man his hair is wavy and blond, cut just above the shoulders. As an elder, his hair appears longer, whiter and he also has a beard. The King of Air is tall and pale, with lean muscles built for agility, rather than strength. He wears a white, floor-length toga fastened with a simple cord and sandals. He carries a wand or staff with him, and wears a circlet of light yellow metal. His expression is often pensive, and has a feeling of deep understanding about him. He also has a distinct air of joyfulness about him, and his elderly face bears quite a few laughter lines. Paralda often speaks in riddles and layers, with many of his statements having multiple potential interpretations.

The spirits under Paralda are called Slyphs and usually appear as females. His office is over things such as intellect, raw knowledge, direct communication, gnosis, wind and dust storms. The energy is unemotional, direct, flighty, and playful. His seal is thus:

The Element of Fire

The King of the Fire Element is called Djinn. King Djin is of average height with a very muscular build. He has tanned brown skin and a bald head. His armour is ornate and has the characteristics of dragons or salamanders. Armoured plates arranged in two offset rows begin on the crown of his head and continue along the length of the spine (similar to those seen on a stegosaurus). He has garnet eyes and a stern expression. Both his face and body are covered with light scars contrasting his brown skin. Of particular note are what appear to be thin, winding burn scars on his hands and wrists. These are not accidental but an artistic form of branding or scarification making an ornate flame design. He wears worn, but well cared for, plate armour with no shoes and carries a sword in each hand. King Djin typically appears surrounded by fire and speaks loudly and very directly and will not hesitate to challenge you if he feels you lack the proper magical authority or are not showing proper respect. Ensure you have good self control and are very clear on your will before summoning this King. King Djin should be the last of these rulers called.

The spirits under Djinn's command are called salamanders. Djinn governs such things like energy, vitality and life, transformation, courage, inner strength and spiritual conviction. His seal is as follows:

The Element of Water

The Water Element is governed and ruled by King Nichsa. Nichsa often appears emerging out of waves and the feeling of his entrance and departure is always like a crashing ocean wave. He is of above-average height and is of a muscular and strong but not bulky build. His skin is pale, almost translucent with a blue hue which reveals his inner energy as it moves within his body. This energy is made of water in some elemental capacity but it does not resemble what one would draw out of a real lake. It seems to be of a higher "spectrum" than molecular water and gives off a light blue-green light. He has Long hair that falls at just below his shoulders colours of silver, black and blue-green are all present. His hair appears to be flowing at all times with the colour and texture always changing and never remaining static, however this movement is not quick and frenetic but rather flowing like water. His colour shifts resemble the iridescent effect sometimes seen on certain sea-shells. He carries a scepter in his hands and wears an ornate crown made of coral and shells. His robe appears to be made of deep ocean water with a salty foam trim. He rides in a chariot pulled by large, colourful sea creatures of the deep ocean. Nichsa's personality is more passive than the other Kings and Queens and he has a sincere and emotionally involved way of speaking. He has a feeling of relaxation and calmness about him that makes one feel at ease.

His attributes are things like dreaming, emotions, night magic, divination (tarot, scrying, etc), clairvoyance. Those spirits under his command are called Undines. His seal is thus:

Please note that with the exception of Ghob, the other Elemental King seals are public seals by which anyone may call on the King of that realm. Ghob's first seal in the thread was revealed during an evocation but he gave permission for it to be used publicly, with the warning that if one is not ready for his power it could have consequences (hence why I provided two seals for Ghob), he did not go into detail about the consequences.

For those interesting in starting evocation Elementals are amazing spirits to get started with, moving from there to Planetary Spirits, Olympians, Angels and then Demons.
