Using constellations as sigils

I have been thinking about a question @Pestifer Mundi had about extracting numbers (for a lottery etc) from a square.

When you look up a picture of one of the constellations, you will likely find a photo in which the stars are connected with lines that reveal the “image” from which the constellation gets its name.

These are the same as sigils, in which points (locations) are connected with lines to form a figure.

With sigils these locations are letters or numbers and in the constellations they are stars. It might be possible to treat one as the other.

The 7 planets have squares from which sigils can be taken, and each Zodiac sign has three decans that are ruled by one of these 7 planets.

The decans of the first sign of the Zodiac – Aries – are ruled by Mars, Sol and Jupiter. And the sign has a pretty simple shape. If you take this “sigil” and place it anywhere on the square, you will find 5 numbers or a five letter word that you can use as a word of power.

But it could just as well be applied to any other planetary square.

For example:
the “sigil” of the constellation Aries placed on the square of the Sun could be used to determine numbers for a Sunday in March. In this particular example the numbers are 7, 34, 13,12 and 2. In Hebrew letters that would be Z,DL,GI,BI and B.

It's a VERY interesting concept - I wonder give the nature of what you're saying whether it would be a good idea to use such a generated word in an act of low magick or for that matter any intentional working with a preconceived goal... Even with a high level of astrological knowledge it just seems like it could be way too unpredictable and could backfire spectacularly.

As an astral doorway or a divination tool however I imagine you could get amazing insights..

Not for nothing, but to me Astrology is the most difficult thing for me. And, the thing is that I want to understand it. I may have to ask my Higher Self, for some answers. Many blessings!!

Everything has the potential to backfire or do nothing at all 😊
Words of Power are something that I always found interesting and that I incorporate into every spell and ritual. When there is logic or reason behind them you can let go of your conscious connection to them and use them as a carrier of your intent.

This is a super interesting concept! It’s like tapping into the symbology of an astrological timestamp but in reverse.

I made a pendant on this month's New Moon. Skull mentioned an idea for his talisman in that thread which gave me the idea to treat this pendant as a talisman as well.

Today the moon was in the 1st Mansion, signifying start (or “journey”) with the energy of Aries and Mars.

The sun is in Capricorn at the moment (Venus retrograde is in Capricorn as well, but this isn't about romance so it can be ignored) and the qualities of Capricorn are very applicable to this.

Because today is a Saturday and Capricorn is ruled by Saturn as well - and Saturnian correspondences apply to the goal I intend as well - I placed the constellation of Capricorn on the Saturn square (as a sigil) and used the stars to extract a Word of Power (or rather a sentence) and found one that expresses my intent.

So, on this day of Saturn in the hour of Mars, I first did a short ritual with the Angel of the first Mansion and then called the Angel of Capricorn and consecrated the pendant and incorporated this W.O.P. thereby combining Mars, Saturn, Aries and Capricorn into this.
