The role of a spiritual mediator, healer, capable of entering altered states to travel between the worlds is one found in many cultures and using different names. Personally I would refer to shaman only to people from Siberia and such diasporas, but this is quite the controversial topic.

I've always wondered what to call other people that do that but that arnt from Siberia

And lets not forget about sacred transgression (including sexual). Somehow that doesn't make its way into the modern lens of 'Everything is however I want to interpret it...cause feels before reals' Shamanism. Very convenient lol.
