Something strange going on during meditation

I'm actually quite used to it by now, but it is quite strange thing. Sometimes when I do meditation, passive, no chanting, just void meditation, it starts feeling as if the space around me deforms. (either that or I deform) Like my sense of my body is that I'm like bend to the side, one or the other, sometimes almost touching legs with my head. At first it was making me almost nauseous, but got used to it. I assume that it is my soul partially detached from the body.

What do you think it could be?

Not an uncommon experience. Often feels like the body is deforming or even the room you are in. Might even cause you to lose balance. In my experience that’s caused by a loss of an visual anchor (especially in the beginning stages until the body is ascostumed to sitting) or bad posture.

  • don’t meditate in the dark. Turn on some light
  • correct your posture especially by drawing in your chin to properly align the vertebrae in the throat
  • perhaps meditate with eyes slightly open
Some people seem to be more susceptible to it. I had it too when I started out.

It’s an out of body experience where you see a shadow of yourself. You can use that shadow as a point to get to the next step to astral project.

Huh, never thought about it that way. This could definitely be great, if it proves true.

My interpretation is that you are going deeper within yourself, so that the outer world/Objective realm's influence is vanishing. Perhaps the tantric Buddhists were correct in that our (perception of) reality is extremely malleable? I wonder this at times.

Most people can’t even get out of their bodies. And even when they do, they still can’t reach astral projection. So yeah, they can’t explain any of these states. If you practice, you can prove it to yourself.

I also experienced this except I don't feel nauseous or anything physically bad. I feel like my physical body change sizes or bends. Sometimes I forget what my body usually looks like while I'm in a really deep state of meditation. I usually feel scared to go deeper when I'm experiencing it. However whenever I choose to keep meditating, I get the most impressive revelations

How about some physical stretches before you meditate, help bring you body into better alignment? Might influence the astral body?

A recent void meditation left me with a really strong sense of being only semi-corporeal. Feeling hung about for ages. Been having trouble accessing the void ever since.

Nothing really special you're just more sensitive to the subtle body as your attention focus inward, with practice it will even be pleasant. Also it is well known that you can mentally create sensations (like feeling you lost your balance and you're tilting) due to obsession and fear of not doing the meditation correctly, it is often a form of self-sabotage.

What you’re feeling that sensation of being bent like a piece of Honeydukes’ salt-water taffy When you settle into the void as the Unspeakables call it your conscious mind lets go of its physical anchor....

You aren't actually deforming but your Internal Compass is spinning Without the "Muggle" senses of sight and sound to ground you your magical core is trying to expand but it's hitting the edges of your physical shell...

Another perspective is that you're putting more attention on your internal prioproception, and diminishing your external sensory reinforcement of that priopriception, so your internal map of your body gets distorted. You can use those distorted perceptions as a stepping stone for other magical effects, shapechanging/pathworking/etc., or you can pay a little more attention to your external environment to correct them.
