Depends on your definition of "lately"...

There's this brand new thing called chaos magic that you might not have heard about. Also Aleister Crowley left the Golden Dawn and made his own version of the Golden Dawn but with hookers and blackjack. Oh and some hippies learned tarot and calling themselves star children or something...

Yeah there's never anything new, it's just reinterpreting stuff with the lens of the modern person.

Yes!!! Penrose and Hameroff proposed a theory quite a while ago, 2 recent studies have supported their theory and it has some pretty big implications when it comes to the occult, there are other scientists (I forget the guys name running the project) but he has a team invested in their work. He has some odd views but he proposed that every universe has a black hole and rather than them just sucking in energy, when they reach a critical point they burst energy out creating galaxies around them, he thinks suns may actually have black holes inside them. This isn’t some slouch he’s a bonafide physicist and he was correct, that every galaxy there seems to be a black hole, and they have been observed shooting energy out, he things this is happening as a mocroscopic scale as well with extremely small black holes and this would disrupt the whole “dark energy” thing. What’s this got to do with the occult? A. Few things, 1) black holes may actually be a source of energy, some scientists are actually taking occult phenomenon more seriously now, fun fact when you have an NDE and see a black void and an upcoming dot of light that turns into a tunnel, scientists have theorized that, that is what you’d see if you could move faster than light.
I wrote in the science section the implication of how tryptophan could be related to astral projection and now they are studying microtubules in the brain (microtubules are created by stacking tryptophan rings) they thought it was impossible to have a quantum flux phenomenon in the body due to how fast it collapses but they are finding out that our whole body and nearly everything around us has the same tryptophan amino acid.
The world quite possibly got a lot more magickal, so much so that scientists are jumping on board. There was a Dr. (I forget his discipline) but even he was talking about the validity of divination.
There’s a ton of stuff going on in the science community that are catching up to occult principles.
As far as the occult itself uhhh apparently magnets when they are in an L shape there something odd that happens at the 45degree vector point, this seems to be not very well studied because it seems like there’s almost a “nothingness” it may be interesting to see if using them in a ritual or to charge a crystal would add anything to it. Umm really there is way too much stuff to name that’s just off the top of my head. I may have misconstrued the magnet part but everything else is on point,
