While digging into Secret Wisdom of all Ages, I stumbled upon The Mysteries of Asar-Hapi.

It eventually mentions Serapis, who appears to be an original god. Standing on the back of the sacred crocodile.

Is this possibly connected to the stars and the goet who rides a crocodile?

Could this possibly be a mention to a constellation standing on the back of a croc cluster?

What might these constellations he named for further research?

If you want more background, I suggest reading Halls work.
It is simply, as he always is, far too much material to even start a quote.

Asar is Osiris.

The sacred "crocodile" is Messeh - based on which the fat of the physical crocodile was used to annoint each Messiah.

The sacred "crocodile" is also known as the Makara

Thanks @Roma ... Wasn't sure if it was draco or another constellation of Serapis or a man riding a croc standing on one.
The croc would signify to me being a Nile guard, while Serapis holds several symbols.
The most prominent symbol he holds regarding the Nile is a yardstick for measuring the depth of the Nile at any time.

A lot of deities got 'Greeked' in the Hellenistic times. This one is Osiris' version, from Ptolemian era if I remember it correctly. Roma is right.

Okay. Thank you all :)

At first I was thinking it was all allegory for constellations noticed at the time by the Egyptians, which then had been turned into religion.

Sacred-texts com has, in the Christianity section, several interesting texts.
As well a lot on Alchemy ... Still searching for constellation lore on there.

This. The name is constructed from Osiris + Apis = Serapis.
