My interests lean mainly towards chaos magick but what are some books that provide practical techniques/exercises and a good roadmap if one wants to begin a practice?

There's this thread already:

If you're looking for building blocks for your daily practice:

Also Liber MMM in Peter J. Carroll's "Liber Null & Psychonaut".

For Chaos magick specifically: "Advanced magick for beginners" by Alan Chapman is the best text out there. Also read everything by Peter J. Carroll, but especially "Liber Kaos" as it's very influential on modern chaos magick. "Liber Null & Psychonaut" are interesting and there's some good stuff in there but Carroll moved on from a lot of what he wrote in that period.
With chaos magick it's important to experiment, so have fun!

Jason Miller's books are also great for beginners, but stick to earlier editions and avoid his courses as they're massively overpriced.

Don’t get me started I’ll never make the mistake of buying overpriced magick courses again. cough Jason Louv
