Hey everyone!

I collected my blood moon water last night and have been looking into how best to use it in my practice. After searching a few different forums, I’ve noticed a lot of mixed opinions on this eclipse’s energy. Some say eclipse energy is too chaotic for spellwork, while others believe it can be harnessed for transformation.

Since this particular eclipse was centered around releasing what no longer serves us and embracing transformation, I was thinking of using the water for a road opener spell. It feels like a great opportunity to clear out blockages and welcome new beginnings.

What are your thoughts? How do you feel about using this blood moon’s energy in spellwork? I’d love to hear your insights!

I indulged in a working last night, though it's explicit purpose was transformation and harnessing the specific currents of the blood moon.

I think a good general approach, especially with a lunar-based system, is to adapt the focus to meet the cycle. For example, if a sorcerer wants to gain specific energies but the moon is waning, one approach is to focus on reducing the opposite of what it is the sorcerer is trying to gain. That kind of learning how to use the push and pull, invoking when it's opportune and banishing when it's opportune, because it requires empathy with natural cycles, is a good way to develop in many areas alongside lending a kick to magic.

I would think a blood moon would be too much for someone entirely new to magic but if some experience is already in place, it's actually a good time to do magic, especially of the big, life-changing sort.

Hekate is associated with the blood moon and she also stands at the crossroads between worlds. I would invoke her in a dark room using a candle lantern if possible and a bowl of your blood moon water. Burn frankincense or dragon's blood incense if you have any, and make an offering of a glass or bowl of lovely dark red wine or a deep rich honey (like forest honey or chestnut honey), and ask her to show you the way. She can also help you remove blockers in your path. She is one of my most loved goddesses and I have a statue of her in my bedroom. She is wise and old, pay tribute to her and she will light the way.
