I just recently got through taking a break from my practice. I felt like I was getting way too deep with Tiamat for a while. When I started working with the Udug Hul I felt like ok it's time to take a step back.
My practice was starting to affect my personal relationships with others. And put me in a bad head space in general. But I also learned a lot about myself.
Now I am back at it. With a cleaner state of mind and a fresh tablet so to speak.

Has anyone else felt like they needed to take this type of break from their studies. Like if they didn't things would implode.

Early days. I felt like I could not function properly at all without the effects I got from the practices. Constantly charged with energy and felt supreme well being effects.
Sometimes I became slightly tilted from not doing enough. At the same time the overworking and excessive practices also tilted the mind.

This led to some serious overloads, overworked the system for a long time without any breaks at all. A few times it went so bad I felt like my whole third eye and the crown chakras were burning in a very unpleasant way. I kept pounding and smashing the system.

There were so many mistakes in there. Wrong mixing, bad order of practices, things which were not supposed to blend together, feeling like being torn apart. Total chaos in mind.

I think the best is to find the perfect balance. You do something, train whatever abilities and if things start going really wrong then take a break. Remaining sane is important, if you start neglecting the important, you will break the system and there could be very unpleasant effects. I know lots of it can be like trial and error and we are all different but seriously do not fry the system too much. Bad side effects can come very easily because the line between good and bad can be very thin. It could go from one to another incredibly fast.

I think one important thing is knowing how to fix errors when they come. If something screws then you must know the remedy. I did practices which tilted too much but then I reset the system, wrote over the mental RAM memory.

My practice was starting to affect my personal relationships with other
I remember having hard times with communicating because my mind was just so overloaded and I became furious very easily. Then there was excessive sensitivity to surrounding energies which made it annoying in public places. It was just too extreme.
