[Tutorial] Common mistakes in magic: what you should absolutely avoid!

Informative post.
Whether you are a beginner or have been practicing magic for some time, certain mistakes can compromise the effectiveness of your rituals.

Here are the most common ones and how to avoid them...

Lack of concentration and intention

A ritual without a clear intention is like an arrow without a target.
Before practicing, make sure you are mentally and emotionally aligned with your goal.
Haste and hesitation weaken your magical work.

Forgetting purification

The energy of your environment strongly influences your rituals.
Failing to purify your space or your tools risks interference. Incense, salt, moon water, or a ritual bell... choose your preferred method, but never ignore it!

Formulating your request incorrectly

Words have immense power.
A vague or poorly worded request can lead to unexpected results (or even the opposite of what you want!). Be precise and avoid negative expressions. Example: “I want to attract sincere love” instead of “I don't want to be alone anymore.”

Neglecting Moon Phases and Correspondences

Every ritual has its own timing.
For example, working on attraction under a waning moon is a common mistake.
Similarly, using a black candle to attract love can create blockages instead of opening up energies.

Not respecting the energy balance

Giving without receiving or invoking forces without thanking them can create karmic imbalances.
A successful ritual always involves an exchange of energies and gratitude to the entities invoked.

Wanting immediate results

Magic requires patience and perseverance.
Wanting to see results in a few hours can cause you to doubt, which weakens the effect of the ritual.
Learn to let go and trust the process.

I would also warn against formulating your intent with 'I want' or 'I wish' because that intent has already been fulfilled - you already want/wish whatever it is.

State it as if it had already happened. If you are not comfortable with this, I suggest starting with 'It is my True Will that...' as this will also make you consider whether the thing you intend is your True Will, or just a passing fancy. Using magic for trivia will bring trivial results. Or blow up in your face.

Another thing I would warn against is, as Crowley would put it, 'lust of result'. This will skew your magic and risk replacing your intent with "Gee, I hope this works".

Lastly, do not mention your magical actions to anyone until you are 100% certain that they are complete. Other people have the same power as you, except theirs will just be noise to your signal, and your chances of success will be reduced.

"To know, to will, to dare... and to keep silent."
