Creating a Talisman and charging it.

I am reading a book about Psychic Self Defense and it states that to have stronger defences I can create an amulet and charge it with what every vibe I want, examples are, "May I be at peace with my loved ones", "May I be succesfull in my job", etc. Using Hermetic Magick and Western Tradition how can I strenghten my amulet?
Also how can I cleanse this amulet, my father gave it to me, and a witch gave it to my father, is a Tetragrammaton pendant, my father says it is already blessed.

If its blessed then I would leave it be, I have a tetragrammaton, I recall someone telling me what to do with it but can't remember exactly.

I do remember holding it with both hands and visualising a ball of light in the centre of my heart and focusing my intent what I wanted it to do. At the same time visualising that energy expand from the heart to left and right shoulders, down the arms and then eventually my hands, like the flow of rivers.

Hello, does anybody know how to properly charge a Tetragrammaton talisman pendant? Since it's a talisman is different from an amulet and since it's a Tetragrammaton i figured it would be a somewhat specially different method since it's the sigil of divinity itself... So its so much more than any...

You can cleanse it by leaving it covered in sea salt, using incense, sunlight, running water.

But honestly I wouldn't do it.
