Did you hear that Yesterday was supposed to be the rapture?

I just heard about it a few minutes ago. I was at school yesterday, and saw no flying naked people. Did you see any flying naked people?

Just for fun, I called my uncle. If anyone fits the notion of a true Christian, it's him. He's a hard working and pious man who's spent his life raising a family and serving his community. He's still here.

Didn't they do this same shit in 2011? Did they do it afterwards?

Doomsday cults are very ancient traditions someone always takes on to keep it going. JW gave up already, but others will keep predicting end of the world.

From my own miserable perspective on Jesus and end times I interpret it that all of that had happened during time of disciples and after them. To explain: after death of Jesus there were Judeo Roman wars, as Jews rebelled and tried to free themselves. They were brutally defeated and it ended with Romans destroying their temple. Destroying the temple was exactly the end of the world for the Jews, because it totally destroyed their system of understanding of the world. Things stopped making sense and they had to literally reinvent their religion. That started Rabbi tradition that lasted till today. It was new world. And lo! After their destruction and diaspora a new figure of Christ, god on Earth came in rising Christianity and the ruler - Cesar and later the Pope! the one person that is the closes to the God, Jesus returned as a function. And what more? It lasted approx. 1000 years, so even the end of Apocalypse, thousand years empire happened too and it was a Christian one. (It took approx. 1000 years since formation of Church to it's breaking into multiple ones.)

So yeah, it's all big misunderstanding and dream that won't happen as people today hope in. Let them dream, if they want. We are going to survive like thousand raptures during our lifetimes, so... no big deal.

I heard something about it but like all of the other scheduled “raptures” I didn’t really pay attention.

It creates a bit of a self-contradictory proposition. Either the book you base your belief in a rapture on is true and everyone will be surprised by the timing (as it says) or you know when the rapture will happen and so the book’s authority on the event becomes quite suspect and therefore you (by knowing the date) are throwing the very thing you are basing your belief of the rapture on into question.

Just a thought.

Hope you don't mind, I think that this video on how this "left behind" rapture actually was invented is quite worth watching. ReligionForBreakfast makes good videos.

The "End of the World" is a complicated concept. Someone can just unscrew a lightbulb and the light ends.)))

That very Primordial Perfect Evil was destroyed on approach. But there were also serious losses among “our” side. I did not participate there — only observed from the sidelines with others.

Took some look over YT reactions on RaptureTok. Bloody hell, those people got so crazy! Here I must say that I can get it if it's your first time, we all learn by mistakes so you buy into it once and hit the wall. Fine that's learning. But honestly this happens often. Every few years actually... so I get surprised that people who are already adult and they have responsibility... and they still didn't get it? No wonder it ends with stuff like sold cars, houses, giving away credit cards too (WTF) and ending in really bad situation one has to deal with.

I would like to feel compassion for those people, because learning, but getting fooled again and again... not cool. It's sad. It can be moving watching lady buying Bibles and making hint cards for those left behind, as well as food and survival stuff... I wonder what she is going to do with that all now...

Gosh! I cannot wait to jump into the next rapture sale we'll have in a few years, I've never really thought about the amazing deals available to us heathens!

Better yet, start your own church. "Don't forget the rapture is next Thursday! But before you go, sign right here if you want to get into heaven . . . "

Alas, if only it wasn't for this pesky conscience. :(

With a title like that, I'm sure interest would be peaked in many! It sounds like a wonderfully profitable excursion into not only opening minds but also commenting on the inevitably of ruin to those who follow a 'shepard' ... I've always been quite weary of the farm terminology used to classify higher entities and their 'flocks'

The rapture, what an interesting concept of wishful negation of responsibility.

I also found this to be interesting:
'The term "rapture" itself comes from the Latin Vulgate translation of the Bible, which rendered the Greek word as rapiemur, meaning "we will be caught up".'

What? You guys missed it? I'm texting from heaven right now.
I think.
Wait. Are those tentacles? Nooooooooo!!!!!
(joke) Have you seen the Yellow Sign?

💯
Hell yeah! The life can be difficult at times, so I can see why some people would buy into this. It feels so easy and "lifesaving." A choice between what is right and what is easy. But through their emotions it is really hard to see their situation clearly. For some even now after the "rapture."

Blessed darkness... can you imagine if all those Christians were raptured... into Carcosa? I don't think that in general they were evil, but they were not really heaven material either. They went crazy so Citadel of Yellow King might actually sound as a place to go...

I agree, and sheep no less, the most harmless of all herd animal. At least cattle can trample and gore, but what are sheep going to do, bleat you to deaf? (See what I did there? I crack myself up sometimes.)

But I'll have to hand the torch to someone else to write the story. I just can't put myself in the headspace of either con artists or brainwashed sheep long enough to write it.

Good point. It's amazing how some people let themselves be programmed like computers.
