E-reader, advice?

Hi all,

I'm going to find myself a new e-reader, my current reader is 12 years old, ridiculously slow and with a bad battery. I have planned to read without subscription on Kobo or something else. I found here on wizardforum enough PDF's to read and study, so no need for subscriptions. What is your favorite e-reader/ the reader you current have? Pros or cons? Thanks in advance for answering!

I would recommend the portable, leather and/or paper edition. There is no load time other than pulling it out of a pocket or bag and opening it. It comes pre-loaded with one book and the profits from the book go to the author and publishing company. It is truly a fascinating invention. I hope it catches on.

It's not as if you can only have one or the other. I use both now but find an e-reader easier to carry outside the house since I don't have to worry about it being too big to fit in my bag and/or it getting ruined by rain.

I'm a fan of Kobos for ebooks - I've used them for years & I prefer them to any other eReader that I've tried.
If you are reading mostly pdfs however I wouldn't recommend any eReader - technically most of them support the pdf format, but they all display them really, really badly.
For pdfs I'd recommend a large-format android tablet - 10" or more ideally - you'll still be able to read ebooks on it, you'll just need to charge it more frequently.

I have good phone, so I use app on phone to read e-books and PDFs, free and without Ads; FBreader.

I did read indeed some PDF's on my phone, but my eyes seems to have problems with that. I have now those varifocus glasses. It is somewhat better, but not comfortable on a phone. I presume that FBreader is a Android program that works also on a tablet? Thank you for your post!

was developed and keeps having support for Android, IOS, Windows, MAC, Linux and Crome OS.
So yes, should work unless you have some really exotic Operating System.
(just a note - support for pdf is addon that must be installed separately, at least on android as I have it, but is free too)
