At least they branched out. The number of people that I've seen post something like "Help, my gran thinks Elon Musk sent her a message on Facebook and wants her bank account info!" is frightening. But I guess that's why scammers keep doing it, it's worth their time and they rarely get caught.

Biggest star? For my mother, probably me lol: I had to fix something on her phone and it received a message claiming it was me, and needed money.
I tried explaining what happened to her but ....woosh. And that is what makes it dangerous. People think the world is smaller than it is because of all the parasocialism going on nowadays.
