it's "wicked"..
This is a variation on a method I gave for the 360 letters of the Shem already. But in looking at the Enochian alphabet I noticed something interesting.
(By filling the degrees of the Zodiac up with letters, and then looking up the letters of those degrees that the planets occupy, you can find a name of your Birth Angel.)
There are 21 letters in the Enochian alphabet. This means that we can place 17 complete alphabets in the 360 degrees of the Zodiac, but since 17 X 21 = 357 there will be three blank degrees.
Usually when you assign letters to the degrees, you start in the first one of Aries and continue to the last one of Pisces. The fact that the Enochian alphabet now leaves three degrees blank gives an opportunity to look at this from another perspective.
Here, the placement of Sol in your birthchart will be the determining factor that decides where the first letter is placed:
The three blank degrees make a triangle if we put 119 letters between each empty degree. For this triangle to be tailored to you, the apex of it will be the degree directly opposite Sol in your birthchart, so, that is where we are going to start.
Make a horoscope drawing (somewhere online) for your date, time and place of birth. Locate your Sol and then look up what the degree opposite of it is (for example: your Sol is 15,23 degree Aquarius = 16th degree Aquarius, and the degree opposite of this is 16th degree Leo, so the first blank degree in this example is 16th degree Leo and the first letter of the alphabet is going to be placed in the 17th degree of Leo)
The result of this method is that (after you have assigned 119 letters to the degrees after the first blank one + the 120th being the second blank + 60 letters after the second blank one) you have now arrived at the degree where your Sol is, and Sol therefore always has the letter L.
The other planets don't have set letters, these will vary. But what will always be the same are the letters of the triangle that has Sol as its apex. We can consider this as (or compare it to) the astrological Trine aspect.
What is meant by Trine is that when two planets appear in your birthchart, separated by 120 degrees, this gives an indication of inclinations and talents. In this case it doesn't matter if you have (or haven't) got planets in those degrees. Because...
The degrees of your Solar Trine have letters. These letters are L (Sol) Z (120 degrees before Sol) and D (120 degrees after Sol). So LZD.
In Enochian some letters are words in themselves. Therefore when I vibrate IAO, I have the meaning of these three letters in the back of my mind (I = is A = with O = this, so IAO = is with this or “IAO is in me”). The letters of LZD also are words on their own. L = “the first”, Z = “they”, and D = “the third”. Even though Z isn't exactly “two” or “second” (VI translates as “second”) but I believe “they” (with some imagination) is close enough to be interpreted as “2” for this.
Now.
If the idea, that the names of the Enochian letters are coded Sumerian words, can be dragged back out, it would become “He gathers together the valuable” (Ur Sab Kal – because the names of the letters L Z and D are Ur Ceph Gal) which kinda could be seen as a way of describing what is said of the Trine. But this is only an aside.
LaZaD could therefore be a word of power to discover and / or cultivate your own unique talents. These would have some connection with the Zodiac signs that those letters occupy in your birthchart.
As a whole, LZD isn't an Enochian word, and if meaning is to be sought in it, this would be through the three individual letters and their translation.
Yeah yeah... hey, and Hebrew?
In Hebrew, Lahmed (L) before a word means “unto / toward / of“ and ZD is “wicked / proud”. So LZD in Hebrew is “towards the proud” or “of the wicked”.
Deosil (clockwise) is (towards the) right, it has the word Deo in it after all. It is the direction in which the Sun appears to circle the earth. Widdershins (counterclockwise) follows the order of the signs (maybe there is some connection with the German for Aries being “Widder”).
So, with a play on words, the “right” or clockwise way is now the wicked way – because Hebrew is written from right to left and they therefore assign the letters to the degrees in a widdershins / counterclockwise manner as this is the natural way from their point of view, it might be because the Moon goes from New to Full with the light side on the right growing bigger each day (so light appears to come from the right side and goes to the left).
For this, because we start with Sol (the first, L) we take the same path as the sun when it appears to circle the earth Deosil, and then we end up with L as Sol, Z as the second degree of the Solar Trine, and D as the third, so going against the sequence in which the letters are assigned to the degrees.
And, while we're at it: the names of these three letters also (kinda) resemble Hebrew words. Aur Kaph Kal = “light” + “palm of the hand” + “whole” = All Light (is in your) Hand.
Ah..yeah.. but what about the triangle of blank degrees, with the apex being the degree opposite Sol?
Yes. In Picatrix it is explained that the West (the descendant) is the point of projection, it is the place of the other, the direction towards which spells are cast. This spot is opposite the ascendant in the horoscope chart.
If this is personalized, and instead of the ascendant the degree of Sol is regarded as the main point, then rather than the descendant the degree opposite of your Sol would be the personal “point of projection”. Therefore this degree opposite of Sol is empty – it is to be filled with what you cast toward it. What follows from this is that, when that particular degree is on the descendant, this is a very favorable moment for you to cast a spell, because you are casting it toward an empty degree and “.. nature abhors a vacuum” as Aristotle said.
Hm.. what if I am born on a full moon? Then the degree opposite the sun has my moon! Or, if there's another planet in that degree?
Then, in the Enochian name of your Angel, there is a blank.
Lolll. That seems odd.
I agree. A solution could be to substitute the Hebrew letter that this particular degree has if the Zodiac is filled up with the (corrected) 360 letters of the Shem.
Hm.. and every name starts with the L of Sol?
Actually, I suggest ending the name with L, so make “the first” the last and the last first. This also (somewhat) connects it with the Hebrew EL in Angelic names. Matthew 20:16 says “So the last shall be first, and the first last; for many be called, but few chosen.” It's a stretch, but if you look to the Enochian alphabet, the 20th letter is S and the 16th O. So...
Meh.. Yeah.. what about the other two blank degrees. What is the significance of these, how to use any of this?
LZD is the Trine of Sol. The blank degree opposite of Sol is the apex of another Trine, but with regards to Sol these two other blank degrees form Sextile aspects with it (60 degrees). Because these two other blanks are part of the emptiness, these also produce favorable moments for spellcasting when they are on the descendant degree (though slightly less than the one directly opposite Sol)
Okay. Let's look at an example for a girl born in Amsterdam on January 1st 2000:
Sol is in 11th degree Capricorn – the opposite blank = 11th Cancer
The second blank then is 11th Scorpio
Third blank is 11th Pisces
First planet (after Sol) is Mars.
Mars is 29th Aquarius (48 degrees/letters after Sol's L) = R
the Enochian name of this person's Birth Angel then starts with R
Jupiter is 26th Aries (57 after R) = L
Saturn is 11th Taurus (15 after L) = F
Luna is 19th Scorpio (188 after F – 8 after 2nd blank – 52 before Sol's L) = B
Venus is 3rd Sagittarius (14 after B) = X
Mercury is 3rd Capricorn (30 after X – 8 before L) = G
Deosil, the Enochian Name then is GXBFLRL which could be pronounced as GiXaBeFLaReL. In full, the name is GED-PAL-PA-OR-UR-DON-UR
To find your Enochian name, write down the degrees that have planets in them (in your birthchart) and adjust the following table so that your Sol lines up with 180th letter (L). The letters are latinized Enochian. Third column are the degrees – so, first the planets are marked in the third column, and then that column is slid up or down to pair your Sol with the 180th letter to find the 7 letters + the degrees of the three blanks (nr 120, 240 and 360 in the first column)
This is a variation on a method I gave for the 360 letters of the Shem already. But in looking at the Enochian alphabet I noticed something interesting.
