This Balkan witchcraft incantation is used to cure and remove the evil eye. It is usually performed on small children who have been afflicted by the evil eye and who cry, are restless, and cannot sleep.
For this purpose, take spring water and recite the incantation over it 3 times:
"If you have been evil-eyed by black eyes,
From brown eyes,
From blue eyes,
May God grant relief.
Let all the harm be cast out,
Let the pain depart,
If you were evil-eyed by a man,
May his eyes leap from his head.
If you were evil-eyed by a woman,
May nothing stay with her.
The charm is from my mouth,
The healing comes from God."
Then give the afflicted person some of the water to drink. The remaining water is thrown onto the door hinge or onto the roof of the house.
