help identifying a demon

i recently (well a bit ago now) had a dream of a red gargoyle type demon, very prototypical demon type guy, appear in a dream. he was pissed off and flying around smashing shit. i informed an old friend of mine the demon was pissed at him and tried to approach to sooth the situation... later that night i had a dream the wood stove in my cabin was melting and all the walls around it were smoldering with embers, there was parts of the wood stove that were molten. mind you, it was very hot so this could have been my body speaking to me. When i woke up i had an A- name like "azarel" or something in my head but all i could find with an A name was Azmodeus... any ideas, hive mind?

i remember i approached him, because i was sure he was mad at my friend for something. he just kinda shrugged me off and continued smashing...

but yeah thats a good idea ill do it while i go to bed/before rest hours

That was not a demon at all. Asmodeus would never act that way in a dream, as well as he typically is a very respectful and calm damon until offended. From your story you have done nothing to offend such a deity. That therefore would make what you saw a malicious spirit trying to trick you or toy with you.

Well, i did not get the sense they were mad at me, i felt no fear approaching him. A cautious awareness of danger, yes. But i approached the entity on behalf of my friend. I don't think its Azmodeus, not from what I have gathered since. And Azmodeus was not the name that came to mind and the only (surface level google search) info i found about the name that did come to mind was fictional characters, which is likely where i got that name from....

I suppose i may have muddied the waters with that info, as (at least in the goetia) none of the "A___" or "Az___" demons seemed to match. So i already assumed it was not Azmodeus.

On a side note, when a Demon reaches out to you to work with you, are they typically upfront and respectful? Whats your experience, if any, with this? I only started considering working with them once i read a book saying theres no need to "bind" them or make contracts, you can just ask nicely like any Deity work. But, for whatever stupid reason, i still have fear from conditioning (as well as the same respect for the power they wield as described above) - altough i do know one first hand account of a dedicated witch that claims their car accident was the work of a Demon they were working with, and another person, a thelemist and regular advisor on such topics, suggested i shhould not mess with the goetic Demons...

as for the horse, i now come to understand that is likely a symbol from Hecate (as well as the witches etc)

Well, as for contacting and working with daemons. Using Goetic/Solomonic practices in order to do it is actually a horrible idea. You see, the key of solomon was a guide on how to use the power of Yahweh to control daemons against their will. So I guaruntee the more you force them to do things the more they will come after you for revenge later. However, yes I will say just be respectful and you should get what you desire, if not something better.

Could have just been a dream, or perhaps a metaphor for how you feel about your friend, but I'm a little stymied that you've done this research and not found Azazel which is much closer to the name you heard than Asmodeus.

I would astral project into the memory of the dream if you believe it's significant and ask the demon what they represent.
