I thought of joining a book club but I'm not sure if I'd fit in because I don't know if most of the women there would actually be younger than me. I don't have any ideas for non-nerdy hobbies, any advice?

I would say cosplay, a lot of women in it and those tend to be better characters too. But it's still nerdy hobby.

No idea myself honestly.

Cosplay is expensive and it has the same caveats as the book club idea. I might just go with the book club thing.

Around here, women are very much into Mahjong, check out your local Library for activities?

You're living too small man. Go do what YOU like to do. You will meet someone somewhat like minded. If your focus is on meeting a woman for a friend, you will fuck it up trying too hard. So stop it, breathe and live man!

If you're a nerd, go do nerd hobbies and meet someone who likes nerd stuff. So what? Just do what you like to do and let things unfold. Its actually easier than you think when you stop thinking about it. Just like dating, let it be a byproduct of your life, not the focus.

Or... you could use... wait for it... magick. You know, that thing we talk about on this forum all the time? Yeah magick. Try that lol

Why would I need to exert magic to find a female friend?
Why would you need to make a thread for advice on finding a female friend? I was being facetious... kind of. You shouldn't NEED it, but it can help if you are having trouble with it. You do you.

Is this thread about finding a female friend or making a female friend ?

One need not be magical at all .... while the other could involve an homunculous .

:)

Friendship is like baking. Its a like minded decision between two or more people to spend time with each other by choice.

The baking aspect roles in that baking you have to start with ingredients but technically you can make anything with anything this just general guidelines.

A shared interest or hobby can be one ingredient, a schedule like meeting one a month for a book club another ingredient, or even sharing the same space such as working in the same office building or going to the same school could be another.

Then comes the mixing which mix whichever with whatever works is what I say. But takes experimentation. Trail and error.

Then the most important step effort on both parties part. Both efforts don't have to be equal. If one or more of the friends has more energy than the other or more time available then they could be the one taking more of the initiative.

But who takes more of the initiative can change over time. Being clear and making sure the other friends or friend is okay with that can help. Clear communication in a friendship and most relationships are really important.

Tldr: friendships require a lot of work, energy, and mutual effort to maintain but given the right ingredients I'm sure most can make long lasting friendships.

I hope this helped!
