Hey y'all!! I was raised Orthodox Jewish, went atheist and philosophical, and now I'm looking into the occult. I know there's more, but I refuse the existing systems. Looking forward to learning from everyone!

Welcome!

You may look into the Kabbalah you have a natural advantage, knowing Hebrew and Torah. I focus on Lurianic Kabbalah myself, self-taught Hebrew.

I looked into it, but I think my focus may lay just intersecting it. I have a bad relationship with Judaism because of my upbringing, so while I may have a heritage advantage, my mental focus may interfere. I also renamed myself in a Greek form, so I may have some connection to that, but I also find myself just interested in chaos magick and the ability to use anything that works.

Kind of unrelated - but there is an astrologer named Ari Moshe Wolfe on youtube who was raised orthodox. He's not necessarily an occultist per se but I think that he has some really unique, complex and thorough perspectives on transits - as someone who was also part of the community for a while its always interesting to see folks like him who have completely left the fold and yet have synthesized all of the knowledge from their religous upbringing. I second the idea that you have a serious advantage with how much you already come to the table with.

The perfect occult introduction for a skeptic would probably be Chaos Magick. Take a look at Peter J Carrols Liber Null & Psychonaut book.

You mean Esoterica? I know of him! He's reconstructionist I believe, and more into the historical aspect of the occult, which is fun!

Downloaded! Now I need to read my way though. It's a bit dense sometimes lol

Esoterica is in my top ten! Ari is a different channel, he was Orthodox but yes he is reconstructionist now - which is significant. I think most Orthodox when they leave, leave the fold for good and never look back.

I can look into any recommendations and channels! Currently I'm digging this channel and his interviews
