I didn’t find much information about this topic (only references in medieval myths), and I want to discuss it as a reality.
First of all, let me give you some context. I was young and practicing one of the major monotheistic religions. I had a strong, blind faith (as is often expected in these religions), but no one seemed to protect, assist, or guide me spiritually — no saints, no angels, nobody.
One night, I opened my eyes and couldn’t move. I thought it was just a normal episode of sleep paralysis (I’d only experienced it a couple of times in my life). But that night, I saw a dark, black humanoid figure behind me, in bed with me; it had its fangs in my back and was draining my energy. I wanted to move, but this entity was physically stronger than me. I couldn’t scream. I tried so hard, and finally a scream emerged — and then I could move again. From my experience, the sexual aspect of incubi is false, but not their energetic vampirism.
This experience is important not only to reveal that these kinds of entities are absolutely real, but also to warn others: being spiritually unprotected and believing that some god or angel will help you simply for being “good” is imprudent. Allowing others to instill feelings of guilt for your sins, or whatever else, weakens you against these entities and leaves you spiritually ill.
You are the only one responsible for the things that happen around you. Don’t be weak.
This is, of course, only my experience and viewpoint years later.
