I've had a series of dreams relating to large spiders , webbing, and the theme of fate / death .. I feel like there's an entity trying to reach out but I can't put my finger on it. The question is, what entity do you know of that corresponds with spiders, and the underworld, or maybe unseen/hidden knowledge?
Sounds like a need for a change, that is difficult to reach. Death is always a change and when going into underworld, you never return the same. Spiders are blockers of the path and powers of fate. Depends on whether they work with or against you.
Via Neil Gayman's American Gods (or maybe some other way) the goddess Anansi has become more well known. Perhaps this is something you read or picked up otherwise.

Thank you ! I'll do some divination work today and ask what the spiders are up to. I've been having this recent call to change my current spiritual path, and the path i'm being drawn to requires a whole new set of learning, dedication and discipline. Also, being a small business owner in the us right now is really depressing/confusing and I'm sad I might have to severely alter my business or let it go. Sounds like heavy divination is needed today !

Grandmother spider (different tribes have different interpretation) but the knowledge, creating and fate weaving often you spoke of gives me this energy

Iktomi of the Lakota Sioux tribe the spider trickster spirit. He is also extremely wise and represents danger, trickery, lessons, culture(to the Lakota people) he hangs out with the coyote of the Lakota tribe shugmanito. The knowledge, and death you speak of reminds me of this one

Now in Native American mythology the spider is different depending on what tribal truth you view it through. But they're medicine spirits(medicine is our way of explaining magick both good and bad) very powerful and are considered what the modern day anthropology call shamanism and animism. That's the reason why I asked if you have any Native American heritage because dreaming of the spider is a BIG DEAL. especially if youre talking about the underworld the realm of death and black smoke.

There's medicine(magick/good and bad) then there's BIG medicine(BIG MAGICK/either REALLY GOOD or REALLY BAD) that depends on how you use such ancient tribal power. If you're having dreams of the fate weaver/dream weaver spider. Then you're probably on the road to end up working with Grandmother spider. That's medicine(magick) true medicine(magick) that's what the modern days call shamanism/animism. Extremely deep stuff. You may have to stop smoking and drinking in the future because this a very sacred road. I had a dream I went to bat ve american spider school. All the spider spirits were there.

Don't be like me and go down a path of revenge, and hate with bad medicine(dark shamanism).... Although it is justified (in my eyes).... try not to make enemies, but also stand up for yourself(if you got native blood then you got sacred, savage and powerful ancestors).... Look up on how to do that.
You'll need twine.
A long 6 to 7 foot branch of weeping willow.
Make it with the intention of catching all of your bad dreams.
The spider is who made the dream catcher.
Look at a spider web and look at the dream catcher. That's the spiders work
