Hello, my name is Al. Recently, I´ve grown interested in occultism after learning about Hermes Trismegistus. I've started reading the Corpus Hermeticum, and since then, I've stumbled across different subreddits until one of them redirected me to the Wizard Forums. Western Occultism is such an interesting topic; the symbolism, rituals, and magic surrounding it are just so fascinating. I feel like I've been learning about hermeticism and several other influences of it, and I would like to get some guidance on how to get started and be able to take it into practice. Someone currently recommended focal meditation. Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated. I've read the rules, and I'm hoping to become more educated and be able to share and learn with and from y'all. Thanks!

Hi and welcome . If you are not already familiar with Patrick Harpur , I recommend this book as a good intro ;

'' In his dazzling history of the imagination, Patrick Harpur links together fields as far apart as Greek philosophy and depth psychology, Renaissance magic and tribal ritual, Romantic poetry and the ecstasy of the shaman, to trace how myths have been used to make sense of the world. He uncovers that tradition which alchemists imagined as a Golden Chain of initiates, who passed their mysterious 'secret fire' down through the ages . ''

Welcome! I recommend listening to music to help with visualization! Writing can also help and looking at dreams could help too. Writing dreams down after waking up might be helpful.

There are a ton of books here one book I saw recently was called Astrology and Shadow Work by Catherine Gerdes. It seems very cool. I haven't read it yet but from the little I have read it seemed promising.

Hope that helps and welcome!

It's interesting you say that, since lately I've been having hectic dreams with a bunch of people from my past and weird situations. I'm definitely gonna start writing it down. As of the book recommendation, I'll definitely check it out. I've read about shadow work but never in depth. Thanks!
