[Opinion] Is supersitition as powerful as magick?

We all know the power of the will and magick acts to influence or life : we choose de create/use thoughtforms/egregores to triggers changes, bless/curse someone.... But always by WILL.

But what happened when it comes to superstition ?!? Can we actually become affected (for the best and the worse) by the same thoughtforms/egregores if we believe so much in them.

One example is people who think black cats are bad omens or someone in the village cast evil eye (when the person knows nothing about magick but rumors has it....) and you think he looked you in a wrong way, suddenly everything falls apart around you.

Is supersitition as powerful as magick?​

Yes.

The placebo is a mainstay of magick since the dawn of civilization.
the intersection of superstition and magick is so thin that the two sides have been feeding off eachother
turning superstitions into ritual elements and magick into urban legends

The general discourse around new ageism and the similar "be happy" movements like to take cover behind
this little plot of no man's land, so what if you're a scammer if the people whose fortune you pretended to read walked away with helpful life advice. If the healing treatments that hold zero weight in either medicinal or occult circles seem to be working for individuals

if we believe so much in them.

anything you believe strong enough is bound to have effects
just as anything you consume in large enough doses can be a poison.

As powerful as actual magick done effectively? No.

Can superstitions still be powerful? Yes.

Crap ton of overlap between the two (and tbh in many ways can be considered the same thing)? Also Yes.

, i.e. the fear of the number four because how many times you encounter four in the course of a day? I think the most effective superstitions are the 'negative' ones (breaking a mirror, a black cat from the left, etc.). Carrying your lucky charm when sitting for an exam for which you have barely studied won't help but forgetting that charm at home will most likely haunt you the whole time you squirm under those questions.

'Positive' superstitions generally don't work unless its by way of the placebo effect, and then it could be argued it's a form of magic and not a superstition anymore. Conversely, sloppily or incorrectly performed magical workings could be termed mere superstition, esp. when you don't believe in their success yourself. So whatever you do, don't think of the number four!!!!!!
