I recently come across a website called [mod edit: removed store name]. The author there is a jeweler and sells King Solomon Seals, Kabbalistic symbols, zodiac talismans and other type of talismans. I really got intrigued by this jewelry work because I am in a part of my spiritual path where I am looking for REAL AND TANGIBLE talismans with the power to repel negative energies, attacks from other occult practitioners, and enemies, and even earthly dangers, and those are some of the claims this author of the website says her talismans are capable of. So, my question is, does this talismans, based on the supposedly seals of King Solomon, could really work? are these seals extracted from the Real Tradition of any path of Real Magick, like the tradition of ceremonial magick, or any other tradition? Or is this bullshit? Thanks in advance people. I leave you with the 3 talismans that intrigued me the most:

1.- King Solomon Seal 6. For Protection Against All Earthly Dangers. The Sixth Pentacle of Jupiter.

3.- King Solomon Seal 12. For Protection Against Negative Energies. The Fifth Pentacle of Mars.

and I will leave you with the description of the 2nd one: King Solomon Seal 31:

The Sixth Pentacle of Saturn contains symbols of each Name at the ends of radii. it is believed that a person against whom those shall be pronounced shall be obsessed by Demons.

The Spirits of this Seal are very powerful and fierce and can bring ultimately extreme ill fortune to the evildoer against whom they are directed. They can also bring about night terrors, drawing upon a person’s worst nightmare and deepest fears. For this reason, this is a seal that is invoked in the most extreme circumstances of evil intentions and actions, in defense against such. Mystical Characters of Saturn are used as symbols. Around the edge a Hebrew verse says: “Set thou a wicked one to be ruler over him, and let Satan stand at his right hand”.
Psalm 69 is a prayer of invocation.

These are indeed the images from the Key of Solomon. Whether they are going to do anything depends on what you do to them and how much you believe in it.
The last one, the 5th of Mars has the Hebrew HVL around the Scorpion. Seems like a mistake to me (it means "joy")

Yes they are from a traditional grimoire, commonly referred to as the key of Solomon/greater key of Solomon/gkos/Clavicula Salomonis and they can be used to great effect.

You’re meant to create them, it’s part of the ritual. That being said, I did buy two cheap ones made of pewter a long time ago, properly consecrated them, and used them for a long time in a number of successful operations.

I would suggest grabbing the Mathers and the Peterson copies from the WF library and checking them out.

1) Then you can consecrate them yourself (there’s no way to know what some online source did or didn’t do when creating them).

2) That way you can make sure that the description and pentacles are correct and that you’re buying what you think you’re buying.

I pulled up the seller’s website and at least some of their info isn’t correct. The 5th of Mars isn’t about negative energy (as stated in the seller’s title) per se and the physical protection bit (in the seller’s description) was probably brought in from the 6th of Mars erroneously if I had to guess.

FYI 5th of Mars per GKOS: “because it is terrible unto the Demons, and at its sight and aspect they will obey thee, for they cannot resist its presence”

Thank you @beardedeldridge, I found them where you told me: in the Key of Solomon from this author: S. LIDDELL MACGREGOR MATHERS, and in the text it says that the seals must be prepared in a specific way and a ritualistic way, and depending on the planet correspondence of each seal, the materials are as follows: Saturn ruleth over Lead; Jupiter over Tin; Mars over Iron; the Sun over Gold; Venus over Copper; Mercury over the mixture of Metals; and the Moon over Silver. So if we take into account what the original source (the key of Solomon) says, buying the seals found in webpages of jewelry of these seals, are just worthless, because they must be prepared with the proper materials and in these webpages the people that sell them prepare all the seals with silver and don’t take into account the materials corresponding with the planets. So I really want to do the proper ritualistic and material preparation, but i couldn´t understand at all the Key of Solomon, so researching there is a scholar witch (Sara L. Mastros) that launched a book called: The sorcery of Solomon: A Guide to the 44 planetary pentacles of the magician king, and she teaches step by step the rituals of preparation contained in this Key of Solomon, the problem is that in order to understand this book, she says that I must learn the basics of magick with her course: Introduction to Witchcraft, Thirteen Lessons in the practice of Magic, and the problem is that I do not have the money to buy the course, it is really expensive. What would you recommend me in order to learn the basics of magick to be prepared to make the rituals of the book of sorcery of solomon: a guide to the 44 planetary pentacles of the magician king? Thanks in advance!

I’m heading out the door so let me see if I can get you the answer you need quickly.

Below the line is a write up from an experienced practitioner who made these fairly regularly (tbh I don’t think she would
want me to link to the original or to cite her but let’s start by just saying it ain’t mine).

I wouldn’t say ones made by others are worthless, we have some WF members who sound like they make them correctly and probably make good quality talismans. But most websites probably mass produce them and they have little intrinsic magical value. That doesn’t mean you can’t use them see my cheap pewter example above.

Virgin parchment works just fine (see the other gkos versions I cited above) until you’re setup to make them from the corresponding metal (if that’s your goal, if it isn’t then stick with paper). Most will tell you a clean sheet of white paper is fine. I personally prefer some handmade vintage parchment but each their own. I use a fountain pen and consecrate the pen and ink. I also go thru a period of purification before I make mine and have a specific ritual with ritual space I use. That being said I tend to error on the side of doing too much instead of too little.

Creating and Using Planetary Pentacles

The Greater Key of Solomon contains numerous planetary pentacles for use in magickal operations. When properly constructed they are quite potent and require little additional input from the magician aside from periodic maintenance making them an excellent method of low energy spell casting. Rather than reproducing all of the pentacles here, please refer to this excerpt from the

before beginning.

Construction

  1. Choose a pentacle appropriate for your working. In general Saturn pentacles deal with destruction and baneful magick, Jupiter with wealth and protection, Mars with war and domination, Sun with spirit control and status, Venus with love and emotional/sexual domination, Mercury with knowledge and acquisition, and the Moon with freedom, divination, and water. Note that these are not hard and fast classifications and the realm of influence for each planet varies widely so choose your pentacle carefully to ensure you receive the greatest effects.
  2. Gather your materials. Traditionally pentacles were engraved on a disk of metal corresponding to the planet however this is a huge pain in the ass as well as expensive and toxic in many cases. Using metal is not strictly necessary though if you plan keeping it around for long term use, it can be beneficial. Paper works perfectly well and I suspect other materials would also be adequate so feel free to get creative. You will also need a Bible and a means of calculating the planetary hours (please see the “planetary correspondences” and “calculating the planetary hours” sections below for more information).
  3. On the day and hour associated with your planet (day and hour of Jupiter etc), draw the pentacle in an appropriately colored ink. While it may be tempting to print out your pentacle, avoid doing so because the process of drawing it by hand is the majority of the casting method. It doesn’t matter how the end product looks - a shitty pentacle will work just as well as a beautiful one, it’s the process that matters. You may start later than the planetary hour or finish drawing after the planetary hour has concluded but take care not to start early otherwise your pentacle will not be infused with the correct planetary energies. If you plan on drawing pentacles regularly, a compass and ruler will make your life much easier.
  4. Casting - this is the easy part. During the correct day and planetary hour, light some incense and hold the pentacle over it while reciting Psalms 8, 21, 27, 29, 32, 51, 72, and 134. Next read the Bible verse associated with your pentacle over it. If your pentacle has any special instructions (such as the 6th pentacle of the Moon), do them now. Using the correct hour is more important than the day so you can fudge this if necessary but it will not function as reliably.
  5. You’re done! If you want to keep it around feel free to though I personally find that paper pentacles are only good for one or two uses or as a component of a

Calculating the Planetary Hours

Every day is ruled by one of the classical planets and each hour of the day is also ruled by a planet. These combinations of planetary day and hour can serve to either strengthen or weaken the planets effects depending on how the two interact with each other which in turn effects the outcome of planetary-based spellwork. For example Saturn (the great malefic) and Jupiter (the great benefic) don’t play well together so curses cast on the day of Saturn in the hour of Jupiter will be weaker than normal or may not function at all. Conversely, Saturn and Mars serve to strengthen each other so a curse could be made more aggressive by casting during the day of Saturn, hour of Mars. The nitty-gritty of choosing the correct combination of planetary day and hour is outside the scope of this post so for our purposes we will be focusing on matching day and hour as this is when the planet’s influence is strongest.
Planetary hours are calculated from sunrise to sunset and from sunset to sunrise so though they are based off a 24 hour cycle, they are not one hour long nor does their duration and starting time stay consistent throughout the year. Instead the time between sunrise and sunset is divided into 12 equal parts as are the hours between sunset and sunrise. Each day begins on it’s ruling planet - the first hour of Sunday is the hour of the sun, the first hour of monday is the hour of the moon, and so forth. The following chart is useful for illustrating the procession of the hours but remember: these are not the times in which the planetary hour occurs

Quite frankly, manually determining the planetary hour is a pain in the ass. The good news is there is literally no reason whatsoever to do this by hand (unless you’re a masochist I guess). There are a number of programs, apps, and websites that will determine them for you based on your geographic location.

As far as Sara Mastros goes, I don’t know tons about her but was never impressed with what I did hear so honestly I wouldn’t shell out the money. That being said if you do please report back to the forum on your experience.

My advise is to always start with becoming proficient with mediation.

As far as how to prepare specifically, planetary pentacles are usually considered a good place to start. You could start working with Drawing Spirits into Crystals (DSIC) it’s not new age despite the name. A very cut down version of that is Seven Spheres. These would be a good way to expand your work with the entities and powers that you will utilizing to make the pentacles.

@beardedeldridge Thank you so much for the wide explanation on how to do these talimans, just to clarify, this information comes from the Key of Solomon of Macgregor Mathers itself or this is the method the experienced practitioner who made these fairly regularly that you mentioned does? and another question is: you said, "If you want to keep it around feel free to though I personally find that paper pentacles are only good for one or two uses or as a component of a planetary talisman", so my intention is to keep them in order to wear them regularly in my day to day life as amulets or talismans for protection vs negative entities and negative energies and curses from other practitioners specially of the Left Hand Path and Palo Mayombe, are they suitable for this task? can I wear them on a day to day basis?, and to do this, It is better to purchase them in the webpage I mentioned so then using the instructions you provided I only consecrate them and charged them, but not construct them?

Keep trying to get back to respond to this but super busy so fair warning here’s a flood of thoughts, take what you will from it:

From my understanding/memory: that’s the way she did it and I’d wager it’s her best reading of what the different manuscripts state as a whole (most certainly using among other sources: Twilit Grotto Esoteric Archives - if you really want to work within the trad grim tradition get familiar with JP’s website) . Why that is important/necessary is a whole other bag to unpack.

Essentially this tradition comes together as a hodgepodge collection of traditions/religions/superstitions/etc (which is where all magical traditions come from but that’s a book unto itself) and magic as a whole in the west went thru different periods of being illegal, hidden, frowned upon, not practiced, rediscovered, pieced back together, practiced in secret, in vogue, etc…. Check out glitch bottle podcasts with Peterson/Skinner/etc to get a feel for how our knowledge on the different procedures evolved as we’ve rediscovered more sources and how/where they were found. It’s pretty fascinating. Lot of people call it a broken tradition, I disagree but it is a bit fractured.

I provided her write-up because I was short on time, trust that person’s scholarship, and you said it was confusing so I figured having a handy dandy reference guide would prove helpful as you worked thru Mathers text.

Wanting to work thru the Mather’s copy exclusively is cool but it generally isn’t considered the best version (there’s a whole thread on here where people give their favorite version).

Couple of things about Mathers (by memory so feel free to fact check) he used a couple of manuscripts that he had available to him, we’ve discovered and compared a lot of older manuscripts since he published, there’s some translation errors, not the clearest pentacles, he omitted certain parts from the manuscripts he used and we don’t know why, early on he states that all pentacles are to made on the same day but then in later chapters says they are to each be made on the day associated with their planet, etc…. There’s probably more but it is a workable copy just dig in and piece together all the info on pentacles he has and get to work. (Fun fact: On the earliest Pentacle manuscripts a lot of the pentacles weren’t tied to a planet.)

Personally made is better than purchased. Purchased from someone you know will do it correctly is OBVIOUSLY better than from a mass produced website. That being said, you can consecrate one of those and be fine. But medal and paper will both work. Both magically and mundanely, medal will out last the paper, medal is just easier to throw around your neck and forget about it, medal is more aesthetically pleasing. One thought is if you’re not trying to wear it like jewelry and you can’t make a medal one personally then make it out of paper and put in a small pouch (think talisman bag, mojo, gris-gris, conjure bag -ish) that you can put around your neck or tie to a belt/etc…. While paper doesn’t generally last as long, I have a paper one I made years ago, reconsecrate it periodically, and it still works great (it stays in a small pouch in my office and when needed it goes into my jacket/pants/laptop-bag pocket.

All that being said, in your case with the limited amount I know about you, instead of spending $100 on one of those silver ones, I’d say do your best to find a practitioner who makes them correctly for twice that price and reconsecrate it yourself. But that’s all up to you.

Finally. An effectively made one will serve you well and protect you from just about anything you run up against.

In the old old days a simple river stone in a pouch was a talisman... Point is it's all about your thoughts & intentions when creating objects. Don't worry about copying a sigil or image it's about the intent & purpose you place on it. Anything is a talisman or protection charm. If you make it one

@beardedeldridge Ok, thank you very much, I hope I can find some practitioner that can do the medals in the right way (Do you know someone who makes them the right way and sells them?) however, the method you presented of doing them in paper is also very workable and great, Thank you very much for your time to answer my questions, hope you have a good day!

@ZapataLunac No one readily comes to mind that makes them for sale. Ones I’ve known made them for awhile more for love of the craft than anything else but stop after awhile because financially it just isn’t really worth making them for sale.

Word of encouragement, magic like reality is malleable, so given enough persistence you’ll figure out something that works well for you. (Which sorta plays into the point ArchonLynx is trying to make, I think, tho he’s in the “edgy-evangelist” phrase many occult practitioners go thru for a bit ;-).

Take care.

@Billionaire I know I’ve seen them but no online consecration rituals for pre-made pentacles come to mind. If if would be helpful for people I could write up my reconstruction ritual that I do for ones I’ve made. May take me a couple of days to get to it, currently on my latest honey-do-task. And it’s a doozy.
