hi there,

this is a little introduction for those who're interested

In a nutshell, I am 22 yr old guy and am almost done with my bachelor in AI.
During the winter periods my interest in the occult and supernatural always tends to be stronger as of compared to other periods of the year.
However, now I want to actually start to self-study occultism or a subset of it.
I would like to combine my scientific background with my openness and interest in the occult to hopefully learn a lot within a little timespan.
If you got any quesions or comments, feel free to say so. I am happy to meet more likeminded people

What is it you exactly would like to know? You mention ”learn a lot in a little time span”
scientific studies… Princeton university is studying belief as a tool that chaos mages use, and then there’s alchemy which deals with self transmutation and you got Rhp that’s more about do good and LHP more about doing things for self, invocation/evocation of connecting with spirits or what some consider aspects of our collective psyche that are archetypes passed down in time, (in this sphere you also have seperation of different periods hellenistic being one example)
you also have Astrology deeply rooted in the individual psyche via natal charts and magick performed at certain planetary crossings in certain degrees and times, there’s the esoteric angle of where it comes from and philosophical angles such as the Gnostic writings in the nag hammadi. You have societies such as Freemasons, Manlucky P Hall speaks on that and there’s better societies like Rosicrucians (Dr Robert Gilbert breaks down a lot of Rudolph Steiner‘s work) that have a sort of esoteric Christian angle Then there’s the Jewish tradition of the Kabbalah, the Sephiroth, aka tree of life, the djed pillar And resurrection of Osiris. (Also part of the alchemical process) Or the lore in the Talmud, that slips Lilith into Genesis, or Zoroaster who Jesus based ”do unto others “off of, I could go on. like cymatics and cknnection of energy centers in the body, meditations ect…

tldr version: its a lifelong path the occult contains all things hidden from the general public, the more you know the more you realize there’s way more to know

p.s. that wasn’t rhetorical I would like to know what it is that interests you, then perhaps I or someone else can point you in the area you may find what you’re looking to learn more about specifically,

Hi there, and thanks for the kind response.

I don't like to commit from the very get-go to a very narrow subset of what the field of occultism has to offer, because in the field where I originally come from, that being computer science/math/AI, a solid understanding of one sub-field is very often required for understanding another sub-field. For example, it is essential you understand the matrix multiplications from linear algebra, and how we use and get derivatives for machine learning algorithms like neural networks.

For that reason, together with the fact that I am pretty much as inexperienced, naive and malleable when it comes to the field of occultism, that I am starting out with extreme caution and sort of refuse to commit myself to a very narrow slice of what occultism has to offer. It may be that my approach, which works in my original field of science, may fall flat on its nose here. If that is the case, I am fairly certain time will tell me that at some point.

However, I came to the world of occultism due to feeling drawn to by certain phenomena of course, but what sort of sub-field(s) they belong to is not yet entirely clear to me. What I can say is that I have gotten started reading about meditation because I believe that's a widely applicable and necessary skill. I also have been busy learning about astral projection and lucid dreaming. For now, my biggest aspiration, would probably be interacting/communicating with supernatural/"otherworldly" entities and simply listening to what they have to say. I know that still is pretty darn vague, but I do not exactly know how many different ways there are of achieving something of that nature.

Another reason why I am not fully sure of this too is because I am so brand-new to the point where I don't know what the "landscape of occltism" looks like. With that I mean that I have no clue what sort of sub-fields there are, and how they relate to one another. The exact same point, put very simply, is that I simply don't even know what sort of sub-fields there are and how they relate, and therefore I do not feel confident in picking a narrow set of sub-fields which I should narrow myself down to for the time being.

Thanks for taking your time and effort to read my stuff and reach out though!
I think that's really cool and I appreciate that so much!
you're awesome :>

have a great day!

hi there, nice to meet you. you seem to take a very intellectual approach. which i understand, but since you say you have a background in AI studies i thought you might like reiki. its easy and simple and has to do with things an AI really still cant do. neural networking is a pro, at least it was for me, but also not something one needs for it. its just fun to label in a new way so your mind can stay involved with feeling stuff.

if one looks at the new psychiatric tools you might get a drift. reiki does it different in the sense that it doesnt need tools and it touches on the human consciousness in a neural pathworking sense so it can change into a life enhancer. its in essence an initiation into 'laying on hands' .

i think that for an intellectual especially it can be like an epiphany/worldchanger.
this is cho ku rei. the symbol that represents the reiki power and is a boost of energy if you would meditate on it you might even feel it.
