I have been looking through the excellent Scott Jeffery site which seems to cover just about everything practical.

It shows some electronic toys to try, has anyone tried one of these?
It might make mapping dis-regulation possible and give some early warning signs among other uses.

Any alternatives?

I skimmed through his site but didn't find any meditation-enhancing gadgets like brainwave biofeedback devices or similar thingummyjigs there. I wouldn't want to be 'hypnotized' into calmness and relaxation anyway, trying to still the monkey brain (unaided) is part of the meditation experience for me and has taught me a lot about what I laughingly called thinking  (= idle ruminations mostly). Sit down, close you eyes and observe the ridiculous spectacle of your useless mentation unfold... I wouldn't like any gadget to take away from that experience and trick me into a false sense of serenity. Same goes for singing bowl or ambient 'meditation' music but then I'm a purist that way ;).

The only real device with pure vibes that is actually helping the meditation experience is the Shaman's drum. Drumming with it puts you involuntarily or voluntarily into the trance state in a very deep and profound way and when you stop drumming you can sense your energetical body shaking down from the drumming, it's an ecstatic experience.

As far as I can tell, it's a digital box that records your heart/brainwaves so you know where your at with meditating. As I am finding out the baselines to practically everything that is taken for granted, I thought it might help identify where there 'proper' band is for certain things.

Drumming does work, trance was easy but not sure what to do with it. The physical action was difficult. And I could practically hear and see the neighbor stop and stare through the wall at me. Strangely enough trance felt the same as playing with slotcars on a track round and round.
Might be fun to take the drum to a local green spot with an out door amphitheater, but there's so many dog walkers and the faeries went nuts when I lit up in meditation. Ohh shiny human! Nature seems to love me:giggle: Dog lick
