To Etch metal there are various methods as well as many applications.

Customize knives

Create amulets,

Etch sigils

Use your imagination.

Here are some methods I’ll show. They are (admittedly) very rough and quickly done.

But you get the basic idea.

But first before beginning make a stencil of the design you want,

First and most complicated

You will need more supplies than the other methods.

1- An extension cord

2- a battery used in kids cars or atvs

3- a cup of vinegar and 3 tablespoons of potassium chloride (table salt)

4- cotton swab

If you do not have a battery like that used in kids cars or atvs you can use a millennial alarm clock battery

Put painters tape all around the metal and cut out the area you want to etch leave no bubbles.

Mix the water and salt, set to the side

Wet the cotton with the vinegar and salt mixture.

Take your jumper cables and put the Positive side on metal

Negative on the wet cotton,

Touch the cotton to the metal and it should start to bubble up, usually turning black.

Here is a pic of the supplies I was going to use but the batter was dead so I ended up using a 9 volt battery

Here’s the finished product

(Unfortunately, the tape didn’t stick properly and it was a rush job)

2nd method.

1- You’ll need finger nail polish to cover your blade completely especially the blade edge.

2-Hydrochloric acid.

(Umm I think normal people use it for cleaning cement so you can get at a hardware store.)

This method if done wrong can eat away the finish on the metal or leave a decent design if done right.

You slowly lower the nail polish blade into the acid with your design etched out.

Method 3

-1 Dremel tool.

-2 Thin drill bit

Use the drill bit to slowly grind away the metal

Most importantly use protection.

The chemicals are very toxic, use in a well ventilated area,

A mask is recommended, eye glasses incase a dremel bit breaks, gloves incase of accidental exposure to the acid and well… no gloves no love.
