How has anyone found numerology as a tool? Effective/ineffective? Better/worse than astrology?

I've had a numerology personality report and 9 year forecast done - I'm impressed with both (obviously with the forecast, there's only a fraction to judge so far...)

Curious as to what others think of it as an art/science/practice. As a software developer, graphic designer and poet - it has a fairly obvious appeal! (Measurements and rhythms etc).

Curious to hear thoughts..

Biofeedback and gematria are too interests of mine related to numerology. Numerology attempts to explain why certain numbers will keep appearing in a field of vision or awareness, or to calculate your destiny, your fate, your luck, your name and your birth conditions; based on the numbers derived from your name and from your date of birth.

For me, numbers bind all practices together, whether they be spirit work or astrological or Tarot cards. Every symbol within the occult relates to and can be reduced to number.

To give an example, if I were to do a Tarot spread, on the one hand I have a web of allegorical symbols which can form a narrative. On the other hand I have a math equation which opens a deeper narrative. Each card corresponds to an alphabet letter which has a numerical value in addition to the number given to the card. These values can then be played with in a variety of ways. So, symbol translates to number, the value of which can equate the original symbol to other symbols of the same value, and then these in turn can be modified or translated back again. In the process more symbols can be generated - or it is better to say that more associations can be uncovered. There is a process within of sympathy-antipathy and "like with like" in the classical sense. If one has a grasp of the powers of metaphor, there is really no limit to what one can do.

Maybe one could call it spiritual algebra, though I like to use the term "dream logic".

Like most forms of divination it’s the person doing the reading not the form of divination itself.

Personally, not much of a divination person, I’ve found it more useful as an add on to other methods rather than as a stand alone.
