Preparing for divination

If the divination requires an object to be used (cards, pendulum etc) then I always cleanse the object, and sometimes ritually empower them.
If the divination requires invocation or evocation (or any type of direct communication with spirits, then I cleanse myself, banish the area, and I guess a circle would also be a valid step in this situation. Of course, communion with spirits generally involves a ritual to summon them.
I guess necessarily different methods of divination require different methods of preperation.

I will speak here about how I do Tarot divination:
I always start with LBRP to clean the area around me, then light a white candle and concentrate on the person's question. When the time comes I will put the cards down (ex. Celtic Cross spread) and interpret the cards. As I gaze at the cards and ponder the question, I will take time to focus and reflect. It can be helpful to my thoughts and feelings on each card for deeper interpretation. Speaking of the interpretation of the cards, the key here is to stay as calm and focused as you can to fully connect with by way of the cards. If you're drawing a complete blank about how a certain card relates to your question, check your deck's reference book for guidance on card meanings. When I am finished I will perform again LBRP and then do something else.
