Protection at LHP

I met many different people in the field of darker magic, but one subject was particularly interesting to me (protection during rituals)
I know people who claim that protection is very important in dark work and people who claim that it is not necessary and is just a superstition of RHP practitioners.
I personally always perform grounding and protective circuit, but what is your experience with LHP work? do you implement protection or not?

Everyone should know about how to protect, no matter if LHP or RHP.
It is not necessary to self-protect, when you are around friends, spirits that you know well and trust. With strangers if you know them to be dangerous, protection is advisable.
The reasons for protecting or not are often depending on the mage themselves, there is no universal list on when to protect and where not to. Use common sense. Also I like quote from Consorting with spirits: Speak kindly, but carry a strong stick.
