A. E. Waite (1857-1942) was one of the leading figures to emerge from the Victorian occult revival. Amongst his accomplishments were the introduction of the works of Eliphas Levi to the English speaking world, the first English publication of many of the classics of alchemy, and in 1903, the resurrection of the Golden Dawn. The author, Dr. R. A. Gilbert is widely acknowledged as the leading expert on Waite, and has written his bibliography as well as this biography.
