Ritual backfiring

Has anyone ever had their ritual backfire?
What sort of cause?
What were the symptoms?
Did it seem the reverse of the intent?

Failing yes but backfiring no. Most recent failure: getting 13 numbers right on a bingo card of 15 numbers = no prize.
Most recent succes: asked three demons to make their presence known in my dream = waking up in sweat from a vivid nightmare (this week)

Not my ritual persay but one I paid for and it may have something to do with the spirt I requested help. I paid magican to invoke a deity that I had worked with in the past and feed him energy to do a task for me. Well it didn't exactly work out as planned... I asked for help finding a position and good deal on a used truck. Instead a car hit my neighbors used truck in his drive way and no job opportunity came. I was disappointed to say the least and a little freaked out.

My first GD self initiation ritual. Knocked a candle over in a circumambulation and kind of failed the ritual.
Jupiter working, to raw money to me. I had to go through three crappy jobs to get one I used to have, only for more money this time around.
Not sure what to rate that.

In Rivas' book, she warns or advises a ritual be a single purpose ritual. I was trying working with a given candle color of the day, and grouped several affirmations together. Some good, some not so good (for some). Im wondering it they're backfiring or just a bunch of chaotic energy spewed out into the universe with no clear intent.
