Along those lines, I would say I took a big bite out of the middle, sorta like getting thrown into the middle of a lake to teach you how to swim. And then like an idiot I regularly switched up which shore I was dog paddling toward.

Welcome! Start at the end? Thaat was the only way I ever made sense of Gurdjieff's Beelzebub book. Maybe it works with other stuff too.
