After reading Liber Null & Psychonaut, a question came to mind. How do you destroy a sigil that is no longer useful, especially after going through the whole process of gnosis, activation, and burning it?

We are supposed to forget the sigil and the intent, but how would one banish it?

I know that servitors tend to dissipate if we stop giving them attention or offerings.

But how does this work with sigils?

If you burn the sigil, it's been destroyed already, at least its material base. It's easier to forget it if you give it a complex enough shape far removed from the actual letters that went into it. I wouldn't banish though, the drama of an additional ritual would only make it stand out brigher in your mind.

I think people should be more relaxed about the forgetting portion of sigil magic. The desire behind the intent of the sigil operation won't go away by itself, there's still something you want to happen/not to happen but instead of dwelling on it, I've found the following attitude helpful: "It's being taken care of. It's in the works. One worry less, what a relief!" So it's ok if the original desire is still there, just don't think of the step you took to fulfill it, i.e. the sigil's creation and charging. It's like you saved up for an item, finally ordered it, then waited for it to arrive. You still want that item but the need is less pressing now, and normally you won't think even about the ordering process, the payment procedure etc. "It's done", as the ancient formula goes.

That makes sense, but what if a sigil is created for something that's useful now, and later it becomes useless — or maybe even causes problems? How would I dissolve an old sigil if I barely remember the sigil itself or the intention behind it, but I know it was created?

The same way you would banish any energy you didn't want around.
