Since I don't see the thread as having been made by search function, I would like to invite comment on the esoteric uses of stones, or any favored book on the subject. I've only attempted to use stones exorcistically in the past; and I know of course of their potential use of scrying, even if it isn't a focus of mine right now.

I would personally be more interested in information to the effect of occult methodologies, rather than, say, "this stone causes luck", but whatever. Comments affirming some successful energetic use of them, or other product.

That's the problem. It's one of those things magi seem to allude to and never spell out.

Donald Tyson's version of the Necronomicon insists on the necessity for and placement stones in one's ritual circle. He does discuss such aspects as size and color. But as to the theory behind it (if any), he is silent. As he is to any uses, besides striking the stones at certain points in the rituals. He SEEMS to be cribbing from Nimrod de Rosario's "Elements of Hyperborean Wisdom," which is likewise pretty tight-lipped as to providing much information about stones. The latter's order "Los caballeros hiperbóreos de tyrodhal"---was been disbanded for decades, so I'm stumped too.

Stones are very useful in Astrological and Planetary Grimoire Renaissance Magick found in texts like the Picatrix and Arbatel of Magic.

They can be used to attract what specific Planet, Intelligence, Spirit etc you are attempting to work with much like Incense and Herbal Suffumigations do.

If the Stones are large enough they can Engraved with Seals and Sigils to be used to Charge as a Talisman.

Agrippa is an excellent source for which stones correspond to which Planet, Intelligence, Spirit etc and if I remember correctly they are in 777 and The Complete Magician’s Tables as well.

Oh and I know OP you mention exorcism but I did forget to mention use of Stones in Hoodoo and Witchcraft.

Stones can be used in those traditions for Purification, Protection (Warding) Exorcism (as you mention), as well as Curses/Hexes/Crossed Conditions etc. with Bags and Jar spells and the like.

Now that I’m thinking about it Stones are also used in GD and Thelemic Ceremonial Magick for Tool/Implement construction and the use depends on the manner of work that is being done.

All that to say there are many uses for stones in both High and Low Magick in varying traditions and you have to kind of dive into those traditions texts or guides to find out why certain stones are used.

I myself go by those sources instead of generic books like you allude to that only give simple general property descriptions… though some of those books have merit if for nothing else to cross reference them with the Magickal text one is working from.

Given that I have some energetic perception, can anyone comment on interaction with the stones themselves?

I might react to them depending on the quality of my energy state, but that's not the same thing as interacting with them.

When I visit gem and magic shops almost all the stones are traumatized. It may be as well to heal the elemental of a stone before using it
