I had a strange dream the other night with two distinct parts that laid out a very specific ritual.
Part 1 of the dream had me acting out this ritual within the context of it being described by someone I knew who learned it from somewhere but didn't really understand what they were doing (this person is not a part of my life anymore, so no chance of asking them anything IRL, even if I wanted to. Good riddance). I practice methods to lucid dream and while I don't have full lucidity often, in the back of my mind during this dream it struck me that it feels like I'm being given instructions intentionally.
Part 2 is what really sealed the deal for me. Every critical piece of information for actually enacting the ritual was laid out on just a blank white background, like it had all been printed onto a flash card and shoved into my face, like "HERE READ THIS".
As for what the ritual itself actually was: the result seemed to be some kind of banishing or teleporting of a target individual. In the practice dream, the target was asleep, though whether this is a necessary step or simply advisable I am unsure. A very specific sigil, which is the only piece of information I was unable to completely memorize (picture of memorized portion and approximate reconstruction attached), had to be drawn or visualized. Then a small fire had to be lit or again visualized next to the target. Finally three words had to be written or spoken in sequence:
THERA
ERDU
ERTH
And then the subject would vanish immediately.
Now, I have no experience with any complicated ceremonial magic or goetic workings. I am still a novice and most of what I do is mere visualization and meditation, so I have no idea if this dream actually means anything or is rooted in any actual magical systems, or if it's just straight hoodoo.
One last interesting facet of this dream. In the 2nd part where the entire thing was laid out like on a piece of paper, the section describing the 3 words looked like it was a snippet of a newsprint, and on this snippet above the "magic words" as they were, was some text describing this spell/ritual first discovered inside a mining operation in China, and the 3 words were accompanied by what appeared to be Chinese equivalents, indicating maybe the words given were simply phonetic English versions of something else.
A cursory google search didn't really turn up anything particularly relevant, beyond my finding the rabbit hole that is Taoism and that Thera was the name of modern-day Santorini and was the victim of the largest volcanic eruption in human history.
I think what I find most interesting about this is not the "magic words" but the sigil. It appears arranged more like a written language than a traditional esoteric symbol one might find in certain grimoires. I suppose I don't really know what kind of answers I'm looking for out of this, but it's hard to ignore that it feels like somebody dropped an instruction booklet right in my lap.
