I figure an "adept" in magic - high or low, or however you choose to classify it - should be someone who has at least experimented in all the various fields of operation pertaining to their path and discovered their interrelationship. They recognize that action trumps assumption. That person should understand (or seek to) that work implies discovering and using what works, not based on some "cart before the horse" criteria, which is what is usually presented to the student, but on the results and experiences that come out of continual experimentation. They should also have attained a degree of flexibility in action in both the magical and mundane spheres - that is, they should be able to shit a gold brick on the spot, so to speak.
They should also know that the most dangerous thing is to think they have attained a point where they can rest on their laurels. The gods and masters may give the adept a bit of a break now and then, but this is in preparation for the next test. Once one recognizes their spiritual sovereignty, then this should be understood that the crown is assumed under the Sword of Damocles. This means being ready, watchful and patient.
