Yes, the solar consecration rite from the Greek Magical Papyri to empower or re-consecrate Solomonic pentacle, but almost never as a simple “plug-and-play” operation. When it does work, it’s because the operator understands what the PGM rite is actually doing on a ritual–symbolic level.

Here are some grounded, practical points I considered:

to treat it as a solar saturation, not a generic blessing

The PGM solar rites (especially Helios-centric ones) don’t just “clean” objects—they imprint them with a specific solar current: authority, visibility, command, cohesion. That pairs well with many Solomonic pentacles, but only those whose planetary logic is genuinely solar or solar-adjacent (authority, honor, vitality, justice). Don’t force it onto pentacles whose function is clearly Saturnine, Lunar, or Martial.

Mind the cosmology mismatch

PGM rituals operate within a late-Hellenistic framework where Helios is cosmic—often above or prior to the planetary hierarchy. Solomonic magic, by contrast, is more juridical and hierarchical. When adapting the PGM rite, subtly translate the language of command:
– Less coercion of spirits
– More alignment with divine order and cosmic law
This avoids energetic dissonance.

Timing matters more than paraphernalia
If you’re going to hybridize traditions, be strict about timing:
– Perform it on a Sunday
– Ideally during the Sun’s hour
– Preferably with the Sun dignified (no need for electional perfection, but avoid obvious debilities)
This compensates for the lack of a fully native Solomonic consecration framework.

Keep the pentacle passive during the rite

A common mistake is activating the pentacle too aggressively during the solar invocation. Let the PGM rite charge the field, then formally dedicate the pentacle after the climax of the solar prayer. Think of it as exposure, not ignition.

Expect a different “feel” than classic Solomonic work
Pentacles consecrated this way tend to feel:
– Less juridical
– More luminous and talismanic
– Stronger for presence, confidence, and authority
– Weaker for strict spirit-constraint or compulsion
