Looking into the Abrahamic Religions and I stumble across this character.
He is surely one of the most powerful Magicians in all EXISTENCE.

This is the story:

  • Abraham is called into a place 'God would show him' so that he might be blessed.
  • While travelling, he separates from his nephew Lot so that their flocks might graze. Lot settles near Sodom (later destroyed by hellfire).
  • There is a conflict and Lot is captured. Abram leads a raid to recapture him.
  • After the battle, he meets the King of Salem (Jerusalem) - Melchizedek.

Melchizedek is a priest-king and a God-king. He identifies as a servant of El Elyon - the most-high God. Abraham gives him one tenth of everything in recognition.
  • Melchizedek is then described later in the bible as a high-priest greater than the Levites.
    • the Levites are the tribe of Israel tasked with being priests in the temple. They emerge later, as part of the covenant line: descendants of Abraham who were blessed.
  • Melchizedek is said to have no father and no mother - suggesting he exists outside of time??
  • He is said to be the first coming of Christ - except he was no sacrifice, he was a King. Christ is said to be a high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
Now it appears as though Melchizedek, representing God, called a rich man to his tent in exchange for the guaranteed WEALTH of this man's children. Then, showed him the world - where Abraham immediately called a meteor strike on the city near on his nephew's side of the river because they were gay. Then Melchizedek, representing Abraham, gave God's son as a sacrifice - possible to appease the confused Abraham who had been asked to give his Own son.

Now there are groups of people that believe Melchizedek is God, Melchizedek is Jesus' first appearance.
He is the GOAT! Right?

He is pretty interesting. He's already pretty mysterious in Genesis, which is a book full of genealogy that he exists outside of, but his appearances in the Gnostic texts are really cool. In the Melchizedek he becomes this cosmic warrior that goes to battle with the archons and apparently comes out victorious. There is also this line in Psalm 110:4 "The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: 'You [Jesus] are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.'" lending credence to the ever popular Jesus was a magical adept idea. Melchizedek was apparently initiated by the divine, prior to the very religion that he was a priest of even existing.

It would make sense to consider him a manifestation of God, or some kind of Tom Bombadil character serving the story, but the super powered wizard battling primeval forces is probably the more fun alternative to contemplate.

Is this some typo? You say In the .... Melchizedek.
I assume you mean in the Dead Sea Scrolls, or in the Book of Enoch .... I have heard this but have not read them myself.

It appears now that what we call the Abrahamic religions, are actually the Melchizedekian relgions - Abraham was but a mouthpiece of what was Mel's deal with God! If true that he was a Priest of the most High God then he would have known God before Abraham did ...
