In my opinion, TST is one of the worst occult organizations you could possibly join. Chanting "Hail Satan" without even believing in such a deity is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Not to mention the things they wear are just absolutely outrageous. Any thoughts?

I uploaded a book about them written by a professor of religion and already started to read it. I'm still at that outfit's beginning, it seems like they started out as a political activist group fighting for religious freedom and the seperation of state and church, disguised as a Satanist hoax out to shock conservative Christians, trying to get a statue of Eliphas Levi's Baphomet erected at state capitols, for example. That was in 2013/14, they might have evolved into something more genuine occult by now.

The Satanic Temple are non-theistic Satanists like LaVey's original Church of Satan, and both use "Hail Satan!" although they don't believe in him as a deity, more as a principle of individual freedom, or so I've read.

I see, that still doesn't make sense though. I personally believe you shouldn't say things like "Hail Satan" or "Ave Sathanas" if you don't even believe in them. It just seems... Corny and fake.

They're not an occult organisation by any means or measurement. It's utterly pointless to judge them as one or for not being one.

I've attended and participated in a few events hosted by people presenting themselves as various types of practitioners just to see what they were all about. Sadly, many groups are in it for the scene. Some are looking for people to hang out with. Some are searching to belong somewhere. Some just want to run around the woods sky clad. Shockingly, people are not always genuine in their presentation of themselves.

If they want to play pretend then they could at least be accurate about it

Exactly - they are a social/political campaigning group who use Satanic imagery, often in a hilarious manner.
I do understand why that would also trigger the more humorless Satanic types, but I really don't think the TST care - founder members like Lucien Greaves have always reminded me of 70s punk political activists, and they took pride in not caring about what people thought of them.

I do suppose that is somewhat satanic in a way. Not caring what others think of you is a very satanic trait for those who work with Lucifer. However I just can't get behind the whole idea of fake satanism and fake rituals

Nah it tracks… if a Levayan satanists yells hail Satan they are hailing their cause… they are the Satan or the adversary to religious dogma.

I see, however couldn't they just say "Hail freedom" instead then?

They are literally just a political activist group with a fan following who play "Satan Worship."
Half of my regional Libertarian Party members are TST, hence why I no longer attend any of their gatherings anymore. They became too stoic ideologues and lots of delusion.
No thanks.
I met Lucien Greaves about seven years ago in passing. He was respectful but quiet.

This. They are like freemasons. And instead of seeking spiritual or magical experiences they seek societal and political meddlings.

Whenever I see things of them it's always with political stuff. "TST is for this and for that"

It feels more like a place for atheists who want to rebel against the church (which is great) but they just stick with it and never actually get into the occult or what europeans believed before the jew on the cross.
