Journal Unconscious Integration

Hello all,

I’ve been largely slacking on a purpose or goal with ceremonial magick since my mundane life has gotten a lot busier over the past year. However recently I’ve been prompted back into it through dreaming and reading Jung, so I decided to do a short program I designed to set the foundational work for more complicated rituals in the future.

My inspiration for this program is heavily reliant on Jung's concept of individuation, with the goal of strengthening the cooperation and relationship between the ego and the unconscious.

The vehicle for achieving this is ceremonial magick, using powerful symbols to communicate this intent to the unconscious.

The program is 8 weeks long and divided into 2 major stages:

1. Lunar Period: This stage is 4 weeks long and involves invoking the moon daily with each element (water, earth, air, then fire) to uncover, solidify, understand, and energize the material communicated to the ego.

The ultimate goal of the lunar stage is to open receptive channels to the unconscious and make its contents known to the ego.

2. Solar Period: This stage is also 4 weeks long and involves invoking the sun daily with each element (water, earth, air, then fire) to embody, manifest, communicate, and actualize the unconscious material that has been revealed during the lunar stage.

The ultimate goal of the solar stage is to consciously integrate unconscious material into the ego and express these integrated truths authentically in the world.

One thing I was particularly interested in with this kind of stuff is how it interacts with astrological placements. As I feel a lot more like my moon sign and can recognize the archetypal influence of it, but as well as the “pure” essence of invoking the moon. It’s an interesting interaction.

Really good I’d say,

I’ve noticed an increase in dream frequency and recall, but the biggest effect this week was the significant decrease of mental chatter. Usually when I’ll walk somewhere on my work campus my head would be full of random crap but this week it was a lot more peaceful. My mood was also a lot more stabilized and I found myself having a lot more conversations with people including strangers than previously.

Even though it’s only been a week the ritual paired with meditation/ reflection has revealed a lot to me. I’m looking forward to this next stage pairing earth with the influence of invoking the moon.

That's excellent, it sounds like your plan is working.

If I can corroborate a bit, it also sounds like my own experience working with archangels - I found myself grounded, living in the moment, with no flights of fancy or other mental distractions, calm when dealing with others, and sleeping well. In other words, it created a very conscious life, although the effect has diminished over time. I had no idea how important that really was until I realized I was experiencing it.

Even though it’s only been a week the ritual paired with meditation/ reflection has revealed a lot to me. I’m looking forward to this next stage pairing earth with the influence of invoking the moon.

UPDATE: Finished the week of pairing earth + moon, and it definitely had an entire different feeling than water the subtly of pairing , some things I noticed within myself during this period was a lot more aggressive/assertive tendencies arose and I had an overall increase in energy.

I feel that aggression has been one thing that has been repressed into the unconscious so now (hopefully healthy) forms of that are now being integrated.

I definitely noticed a lot more conflicts and urges arise into my conscious mind that felt not like myself, very interesting to experience that sort of thing.

I interpret this as unconscious contents moving from being more ethereal and undefined into tangible psychological material. As water would initially reveal while earth gives it form and substance in the psyche.

Interesting, the way you described it I would have though you were into more of a martial operation rather than Lunar.

Then again your working doesn't seem like you have been simply going in through the Qabalistic tree of life, which would be the path between Malkuth and Yesod.

So what is Lunar and Solar in definition here? Unconcious and Superconcious?

Yeah I agree, for me in particular it makes sense and it can be reflected even looking at things like a horoscope.

I have my sun and moon both ruled by Mars (Scorpio and Aries), but my actual mars is in detriment (Libra) which I think spawns a lot of internal conflict and repressed energy that is being released out of the unconscious.

The Moon/Sun framework I'm using is more Jungian than Qabalistic. The moon symbolizes conscious dialogue with the unconscious while the sun represents conscious integration and authentic expression of discovered material.

Rather than unconscious/superconscious, I’m envisioning more unconscious/conscious integration - making the unconscious conscious and embodying it authentically.

Basically martial energy emerging isn't from accessing higher consciousness but from reclaiming subconsciously disowned energy that has been suppressed.

Great question, and you’re right I’m definitely not doing the traditional tree of life path.

UPDATE:

Finished the air + moon week. This was the “most difficult” week to get through yet. A lot of mental chatter and internal struggles.

Symbolically, air amplifies your thinking function while moon brings up unconscious material, creating mental overwhelm as both operated simultaneously.

This created a ton of anxiety for seemingly no apparent reason, but allowed me to comprehend and see the “thread” of this complex and therefore help dissolve it.

During this time I felt an increased desire to meditate and read, and I found myself having several epiphanies about hidden motivations that drive some of my less desirable behaviors.

Looking forward to this week of fire + moon.

Yeah it’s not overly complex, I’m not a very flashy type of person but it does give genuine results.
