Oh, cool! What are those principles, if you don't mind sharing? I've only really been able to reliably get myself there through deep meditation, so knowing some other techniques to work on centering myself on the day-to-day seems like it would be very handy.

I hope they fit in here and are not off topic , I can put them down as a way of dealing with entities I suppose, as it is transferable ... but I have an appointment in 10 mins and I am still sitting up in bed typing ... Yikes !

Mostly I teach this in martial arts but I have found it can apply with animals and 'spirits' ( of a 'low' order ) .

0. 'Spirit' ... first be aware of the 'contract ' ( Hierarchy of Spirits *) .

1. 'Extend Ki ' . That is 'Imagine' energy coming out from you eg. if you point your finger (or sword) , trace a sigil or pentagram in the air, etc
It should also 'radiate' from the entire body eg the eyes . One can detect this in some . It can even be a 'look' that can stop people 'in their tracks ... it is based on confidence backed up by ability . This energy flows through and does not stop at 'target ' it keeps going ; you point down, it goes through the planet and off through the stars .

2. Concentrate on the one point. The 'Hara' or LTD (lower dan tien ) ; your first two finger widths below the navel . The concentration is a flow of energy , this time inwards , as if your Hara is the gravitational center of the Universe . This is the source of your 'Ki outflow' .

Practice this and holding this visualization through 'difficulties ' eg

My early training ;

stage 1 . Sit in seiza and maintain concentration on you one point .

2 . Instructor ; '' Okay, now come over here and let me demonstrate something . I do, get up and go over to him . '' Did you keep concentration on your hara ? '' Damn ! .. back to seiza .

3. Then seeing if you loose it during any demo ... if so , back to seiza .

eventually you are standing there (or whatever ) and they are rushing at you with a live sharp katana, screaming and stopping the blow mm from your face ..... '' Did you lose concentration on your hara ? '' and so on . Eventually you should be able to evade 'jutsu' take down , disarm without losing concentration on your hara . It helps conquer fear and uncertain actions amidst 'adversity ' .

.... Magical application example ; One night I got a 'visit ', I knew someone was outside so I went to the door and peered out ( country area , no outdoor lighting , dark ) , it was what I came to describe as 'the Hag ' ; horrible looking, decayed , dirty rags , nasty energy

Me ; '' Oh ... hello there , did you want to come inside .'' Led her in . '' Take a seat , how about a nice cup of tea '' (calm and confident 'as' ) make two cups of tea , one for me and one for the table near her chair . She seemed totally flummoxed and left . I followed her out '' Oh .. well ,,, goodbye then .''

( she appeared to some hippies nearby , according to them ... they bolted their camp, didnt even gather their stuff first , totally freaked out ! )

[ Aside : Wizard forum is cool ... no way I would tell people this story normally ! :D ]

3. 'No mind' - Dont let your mind flit all over the place , have no thoughts , or if you cant do that , maintain one single thought (like visualizing clear blue sky , occupy you mind with that . If you are facing off in a sword match and wondering what is for dinner , you will probably lose . if you are thinking fear or confusion , a spirit or animal will sense that and react , one way or another .

4. Keep weight 'underside ' . This is mostly for martial arts , its a way of 'not being pushed around ' , so it can apply by analogy - imagine your weight is concentrated on every 'underside' of your body . Or just , be aware of your body, where it is , in relation to your environment and another . Chances are , if a person can not get you 'off balance' a spirit probably can't either .

You might see the 'elemental' associations here ;
0. Spirit.
1. Fire
2. Water
3. Air
4. Earth.

2. water is based on 'absorption ' but also related to emotions . Try using the hara focusing meditation when your emotions become unstable (eg fear ) and observe the results .

also see 'immovable body ' demo in Aikido - I could post an example but most would assume they are faking it , however I have experienced it personally myself , both ways ; cant lift them or cant be lifted by them . Even by someone totally inexperienced , IF they do those four visualizations .. everyone was surprised ; the two big muscled guys lifting , the small slight woman being unlifted and even me instructing her ( I didnt think it would work that good ) .

''By an extraordinary series of circumstances a confirmation appears to have been found for one of Emanuel Swedenborg's more unusual doctrines-that man's life depends on his relationship to a hierarchy of spirits. ... In my dialogues with patients I learned of two orders of experience, borrowing from the voices themselves, called the higher and the lower order. ... ''

Lower ; '' ... They invade every nook and cranny of privacy, work on every weakness and credibility, claim awesome powers, lie, make promises and then undermine the patient's will. They never have a personal identity though they accept most names or identities given them. They either conceal or have no awareness of personal memories. Though they claim to be separate identities they will reveal no detail that might help to trace them as separate individuals. Their voice quality can change or shift, leaving the patient quite confused as to who might be speaking ... The lower order seems incapable of sequential reasoning. Though they often claim to be in some distant city they cannot report more than the patient sees, hears, or remembers. They seem imprisoned in the lowest level of the patient's mind, giving no real evidence of a personal world or any higher order thinking or experiencing. ''

''The higher order appeared strangely gifted, sensitive, wise and religious. They did not conceal identity but rather would have an identity above the human. For instance, a lady of the higher order was described as "an emanation of the feminine aspect of the Divine. ...
The higher order claims power over the lower order and indeed shows it at times In general the higher order is richer than the patient's normal experience, respectful of his freedom, helpful, instructive, supportive, highly symbolic and religious. It looks most like Carl Jung's archetypes, whereas the lower order looks like Freud's id.... The higher order tends to enlarge a patient's values, something like a very wise and considerate instructor In direct contrast stands the rarer higher order ... The higher order is much more likely to be symbolic, religious, supportive, genuinely instructive ...

'' Swedenborg describes all of life as a hierarchy of beings representing essentially different orders and yet acting in correspondence with each other. The Lord acts through celestial angels, who in turn correspond on a lower level to spiritual angels, who in turn correspond to a third lower heaven-all of which corresponds to and acts into man. On the opposite side there are three levels of hell acting out of direct contact into man. Man is the free space and meeting ground of these great hierarchies. In effect, good and its opposite evil rule through this hierarchy of beings down to man who stands in the free space between them. Out of his experiences and choices he identifies with either or both sides. These influences coming from both sides are the very life of man. The man who takes pride in his own powers tends toward the evil side. The man who acknowledges that he is the receptacle of all that is good, even the power to think and to feel, tends toward the good side. In the extreme of evil, spirits claim power over all things and seek to subjugate others. In the extreme of good, angels feel themselves free in that the good of the Lord acts freely through them. Swedenborg's doctrine of the effect of spirits with man is simply the lower aspect of a whole cosmology of the structure of existence. ''
