Hello everyone,
Today I wanted to talk about why so many aspiring practitioners of the Arts fail to gain anything substantial out of it. I will be providing various reasons why in no particular order below:
1. One of the major surefire ways to get lost in understanding is to be a
"dabbler" in the Arts;
where you just cant stop jumping from one thing to another. Not only does it not give you a solid foundation, but the brain gets in the way of insight because of information overload, in this case WORTHLESS information (no matter how good the source may be).
In essence, if you cant use what you learn and also learn COMPLETELY what you intend on using, you will have a hard time getting worthwhile results. This also is influenced by your lack or have of Willpower, which I'll get into below.
2.Magickal Will:
Many an aspirant to the Mysteries has been lead astray, destroyed, and laid barren because of a lack of development of a proper Magickal Will. This is whereby YOU DECLARE the nature of your work to the Cosmos and affirm it with an Oath as a means to cement your purpose for the Arts, your Existence and your actions and inactions in relation to the 2.
A magician that doesn't have a properly developed Magickal Will be opened to the worst dilemmas he can encounter in life. He will be His own worst enemy.
3. The above is done by the proper development of his Will.
He will venture to put his willpower to test by various practices that have been placed before us or he will tests it out by his own means. A magician without superhuman willpower can only travel as far as his Will will allow.
Which in the case or the average human isn't very far.
Let he who hath ears listen!
4. Control of His Own Mind:
An aspirant who ventures not to control his own thought processes and the imprints of the same on his own mind will have a very hard time trying to progress in the Arts. He must learn to develop such mastery of the mind whereby he has control of all that he thinks and feels at all times.
He must learn to venture to deepest recess of his makeup and endeavor to eliminate the false from the truth and to eradicate his own inner demons and misconceptions. He should endeavor to know himself in all his dimensions so that there is nothing that can make him waver in his understanding about his own nature.
Let he who hath Eyes see!
5. He shall endeavor to purify by every and all means His spirit from the dross and negative charges accrued upon his present (and past) existence(s).
The same as gold is purified by fire, so shall his Spirit, and His True Intent be purified by the practices of the Arts so that his mind, body, heart, soul and Spirit (self) are ready to receive the divine messages, virtues and blessings that come from the Logos, to those who earnestly seek from the Tree of Life of the One.
Let he who hath a Heart feel!
6. And finally, make Knowledge your friend, Wisdom your partner and Understanding your watchword and everything shall fall into its place accordingly.
Humble thyself, pray (proper meditation) and study, and you will be surprised at what you find.
These are the basic, fundamental errors as to why most people cant take advantage of anything related to the Arts. Obviously there can be other factors involved, but for the aspiring magus, these are the main ones to be overcome if they wish to be serious practitioners in the Arts.
