What is sex magic?

Like, sorry to sound like a rube, I'm just learning about magic but I don't get sex magic. Isn't this basically just like a kink? Like re-playing that movie with the masked orgy? Don't candles and spells and things distract from the experience? I haven't read much but it feels a bit like these two things are being glued together because magic = forbbiden, sex = forbidden. Sex magic definitely isn’t for everyone and most covens hopefully aren’t just cult flavored orgy dens… so to answer your question, yes sex magic can be legit. In practice let’s assume you have a consenting partner who’s also a magic practitioner. I’m only going to discuss straight sex and solo sex for this example but there are certainly lesbian and gay sex magic practitioners that are equally valid. So for the most basic sex magic ritual people like to perform and think of is a Wiccan one where they typically are playing the role of god and goddess and performing what is called The Great Rite. The Great Rite is a ritual, originating from the ancient Hieros Gamos (Sacred Marriage), that enacts the union of the divine masculine and feminine, represented by the God and Goddess. It can be performed in two ways: a symbolic gesture where a ritual knife is dipped into a chalice, or a physical sexual union. The Great Rite symbolizes divine creation and fertility, generating energy and spiritual power for the practitioners. Some do it with the intent to actually have the god or goddess enter their bodies. (The ritual draws from the ancient Hieros Gamos, an ancient rite practiced in mystery religions to seek religious illumination through sexual intercourse with a deity.) but there are other types of sex magic and rites. For example it’s a type of sex magic if a practitioner uses sexual fluids in their spells or as a way to consecrate an object. They would usually call upon a spirit or deity to enter them as they focus on the intense energy or visions being given to them during the ecstatic experience and during the act of self pleasure while maintaining their focus on their intent or the divine connection itself. Upon climax they believe their sexual fluids are considered imbued magically and or holy. When used to anoint personal ritual items some believe it enlivens them and attunes them to you specifically. Adding sexual fluid gathered in this way and then added to a spell oil to cause people to be sexually attracted to you is very potent. There are practitioners who perform similar acts as erotic offerings of devotion, however, I do personally believe that it is better suited as a way to connect with a fetch mate if the fetch mate's relationship with you is already romantic in nature. For example I have a male fetch mate and part of our agreement is that upon my death on the other side when my soul leaves my flesh and I arrive I will be his mate for that lifetime. On some of my night journeys through witches flight in my fetch form (it’s similar to projecting one’s soul elsewhere or astral travel but not limited by the astral realm. There are other differences but that would be a whole other post.) we have had sexual relations. The only magic being done was raw and completely unconscious but it did strengthen our connection and his ability to interact with the physical world around me, and for me it affected my fetch form and enhanced my own spiritual abilities. There is a magic group I know of that believes that the old high priestess or high priest must have ritual sex with their replacement and it is believed they pass their energy, magic, and gods/goddesses favor through their orgasm and the exchanging of fluids. This isn’t something I would do but it’s a thing… I personally liked to reserve sex magic for my physical romantic partner and I used it for healing, enhancing our connection, reenergizing, going into a trance state, reenacting the Morrigan’s and Dagda’s yearly tryst (Morrígan and the Dagda have sex during their annual meeting around Samhain, or November 1st, which was a significant festival in ancient Celtic religion marking the end of the old year and the beginning of the new. There are some satanic vampiric practitioners who use it as an opportunity to steal life force or soul fragments from whoever they are sleeping with… but I don’t condone that. I want to add that there are ways to be fed on by an energy vampire that are pleasurable and won’t harm you also. Not all vampires or satanists are bad. There was an article I read once written by Raven Grimassi where he discusses it in depth and explains how in his practice the high priestess calls down the energy of the moon into her core and the high priest does the same but with solar energy and they are supposed to focus on a specific intent when they come together and have ritual sex. They aren’t supposed to allow their thoughts to stray from the intent of the spell and it is considered cast upon climax, though it’s important to note that he said it wasn’t successful unless they climaxed simultaneously and they remained focused. I can copy it into text editor and break it, but not possible on the phone. I'll give you a tip: I write on my phone a lot. long text are pain so I bought myself BlueTooth keyboard and took the pain in making it work with the phone. It really helps a lot. It is not exactly as with computer but writing texts becomes much easier. If you get folding keyboard, you can have it with you on go. Helps a low when I get inspiration on stories away from home.

Among other things I can use keyboard arrows to move cursor across the text way easier than on touch screen of phone. Not sure if it is good solution for you or not, but it's an idea.

It’s arguably the most potent energy we humans have immediate access to, which is why it’s a very real, very potent, and very serious form of magick. I definitely wouldn’t practice it with anyone you don’t truly know or trust, consequences of that could be bad.

This is (somewhat) half of the meaning in my message, the other half being that many people that practice sex magic do so from an ego-driven perspective, when the point of the practice is the opposite, to say the least.

If one were to take a thelemic approach you could argue that magick is about empowering you to actually DO your True Will. Which semantically could be likened to “the Will of God” or “the universe“ or whatever. It doesn’t have to necessarily be an imposition and in fact shouldn’t be, because in reality youre aligning with the universal flow of energy, the Tao, your True Path, etc
