Do they want to be worshipped or do humans just want to worship them? Why do they need to be worshipped?

Do they want to be worshiped or do humans just want to worship them? Why do they need to be worshiped?

Do they need it? That would depend on the deity, I suppose. ... and semantics of course. Do they absolutely need it? Else they cease to be? No, that's not how I understand it. But, it, the worship, is needed on condition, if the deity ( or the aspirant ) desires to have an encounter with each other.

The act of worship is a method for having an encounter with them. It's a rather complicated topic , but, trying to be brief, these "beings" exist in a realm of absolute truth. In order to "exist" "there" with them, the mind must hold an absolutely true conception of this "other" "being" or "beings". Otherwise, the mind is immediately rejected from that realm. Nothing can exist there which is not absolutely true. That includes thoughts.

This poses a dilemma, because these others are so very very different from us, that it is almost completely impossible to develop an absolutely true conception of them in the mind's eye. It's a long, painful, lonely road, but I'm told it's highly rewarding on completion. The Hindu, I believe are the best resource for this.

A much much easier way to consistently produce an absolutely true conception of these other "beings" is not intellectual. It's emotive. For each of these other "beings" ( assuming they exist ), there is one and only one absolutely true conception of them which can be conjured in the mind's eye. However, there are nearly infinite ways to feel about them, to feel about what they are doing ( present progressive tense ). Each and every one of those nearly infinite ways is almost always absolutely true. If the aspirant is educated on the "doings" of that particular other "being".

That's where prayer / worship comes in. The worship or prayer or ritual intends to cultivate an emotive response within the aspirant which is very likely to be absolutely true for the one or ones which are being invoked/evoked.

I hope this answers your question.

Best wishes,

There are a lot of cultural differences as to the necessity and want.
Some cultures believe in a "mana pool", that our worship gives energy/power to the deities.
Some cultures believe in a benevolence and grace given to us by the deities when we pay homage to them.
Some cultures believe that the more we interact with the deities, that they can bestow supernatural gifts to their faithful.
Some cultures believe that we need to appease the deities so as to avoid suffering and disaster.

Very few cultures have deities who wish to be ignored. Virtually all are worshipped, if at least recognized. Mot, in the Canaanite pantheon is the deity of Death, the rot, the shriveling entity who brings the worm. He is not worshipped but acknowledged/feared.

gods/deities refuel through sacrifice, souls, faith. Worshipping them is a way of fueling them. This is why religion is no different than the occcult in this sense but religious deities are very demanding in comparison.

However even the worst deity in this regard (allah) is not strong in any manner. Deities rely on worship/dedication for power because they refuse to put in the effort to be powerful themselves. Speaking from experience, after attaining power which is a very difficult thing to do (deities dont die of natural age so they have all the time in the world), the process and need of worship means the being itself is weak. There are a lot of deities that have evil intentions, some even trying to hoard magick by starving the world.

Deities also like dominating other beings. One not hidden trait in religions is spiritual enslavement, by saying you are a slave of that god which goes against the actual logic and math of a real god given that we were created to be and not to be returned to manufacturer. Basically we arent created to be uncreated or to lose ourselves to others.

This may seem like a very different or negative outlook but i speak from experience here given my success in my practice. I do work with angels too and they are the entire opposite and do not like being worshipped or put on a pedestal as it insults them as it paints them as weak and lazy as angels for example are beings who spent a lot of effort to become what they are and obtained power. So lower beings use worship as a way to attain power easily but better beings that attain power dont need others to refuel them and find it insulting if you try. Power attained through worship is never as strong as obtaining the real thing through effort.

I also find myself gaining power just by helping build others up and helping them improve their own capabilities and power. So theres much better alternatives to consider.

In the occult, theres a difference between appreciation (i.e. gifts, offerings), prayers and worship. prayer is a form of communication. When you work with a being that requires an offering (rather than as an appreciation) such as worship, sacrifice etc, its always a nett negative, as you are giving more than is required to actually do the task.

Deities use the energy of humans
and get connected anyway, wether they are worshipped or not. If you see Western art history for example you see the same deities over and over again. They are settled in our being. Try to disconnect and they connect in another (new) way.

A sorcerer/wizard/witch has imho to find out which connections are useful or not and needs to pay more attention to the deity connection that feels right in place.
